Description

Have fun with the whole family at this stylish, recently renovated, pet friendly suite. This suite is in a house located at Little Bear Farm, an 8 acre private property with a large yard and field for romping with a dog, sledding, or walking around our pond and fields. Conveniently located near Banner Elk and Valle Crucis, we are close to shopping or the slopes. We are adjacent to 450 acres of forest that is part of the Blue Ridge Conservancy, offering hiking trails to the public. The space This listing is for the private, larger part of a ranch style brick house originally built in 1964-65 and fully remodeled in 2022-2023. KITCHEN It features a modern kitchen with new appliances and is equipped for you to prepare and enjoy a full meal. A small closet at the end of the kitchen houses a full washer and dryer. BATHROOMS The home has two full baths. The first bath, located in the main hallway, has a vanity, a toilet and a large tiled walk-in shower with a rain shower head. The second bath, by the living room, has a vanity, a toilet and a deep soaking tub. At the foot of the tub, in the wall, there is an electric fireplace that is operated by remote control. Both bathrooms also have supplemental ceiling heat. Everything is GFCI protected for your safety. BEDROOMS The master bedroom is spacious and comfortable. There is a king bed with lights and receptacles built into the headboard. Opposite the bed there is a recliner, a corner desk work station and a 32” flat screen tv. The second bedroom is smaller but still comfortable with a queen bed. Both bedrooms have blackout curtains, closets, suitcase stands and down bedding. While the house very comfortabley sleeps four, if you’re willing to squeeze a bit, we have a queen sized murphy-style bed in the living room that will accommodate two additional guests. This is perfect for our guests who have their own guests for just a night or two during their stay. If you think you would like more room, we have an other listing which offers the entire house. LIVING AREA The house has a large living room with a recliner chair, a dual reclining sofa and a big bean bag chair. There is a 48” HD flatscreen and an electric fireplace which offers any combination of light/color, sound and heat. In the corner of the living room is a queen sized Murphy bed that can be folded out if extra sleeping space is needed. The sliding glass doors lead to an 8x32’ closed deck with a view of the neighborhood…which is a couple of other houses and A LOT of deer and turkeys who are drawn to the meadow and creek. THE YARD Use as much or as little as you like. There is a small fire pit out front and we have some outdoor seating available. Aside from the lawn surrounding the house itself, the property itself is around 8 acres which is mostly field and a small pond. Feel free to enjoy any of it but bear in mind there are several houses on the property and we ask guests only to be respectful of one another’s privacy. Guest access This listing is for full access to the larger portion of the house and corresponding yard. There is a separate studio apartment, which we also list on AirBnB, that is not included in this listing. Guests are not allowed access to the unfinished basement, attic spaces, or the attached den/deck at the end of the house. Other things to note We are adjacent to a large tract of land owned by the Valle Crucis Conference Center that is part of the Blue Ridge Conservancy. As such this land is available to our guests for hiking or just to enjoy the glory of nature. This property is accessible in the back of our field simply by stepping over the fence into the tree line. There are numerous hiking paths, rock cliffs, old ruins further down the hill, and access to Crab Orchard Falls. If you hike long enough you can eventually even reach the Conference Center in Valle Crucis. Rules are the same as for a national park, leave it as you found it. We do encourage our guests to tell someone if they elect to hike here as this is a large tract of land and it is possible to get lost. We want everyone to be safe. If you are visiting alone we are happy to look out for you. Just let us know when you leave and when you plan to return. We offer a fire pit in the yard. If you want to build a fire, you can buy wood at most of the stores in Banner Elk. - We have a firm pet policy. Our fee is normally $100 but we waive it for our AirBNB guests. In the event that guests fail to observe our pet policy (see House Rules below) we will assess the full $100 fee and bill for any additional damage or fees. Additional details are available in our HOUSE MANUAL and house rules. We offer a word of CAUTION. We encourage direct visual supervision of animals and children when outside. Coyotes can pose minimal risks to small dogs and occasionally they cross our property. There has never been an incident here but it exists as a possibility. Don’t let your dog chase deer. Sometimes they can have babies and be VERY protective. Our small pond ices in the winter. Allowing your dog to walk on the ice could result in them breaking through and a possible drowning issue. Rominger Road is sometimes busy and the traffic doesn’t anticipate dogs or children in the road. This road has claimed a number of deer and dogs.
