This little getaway is a fisherman’s dream – not only do you have the lake at your front door, but during the rainy season there is a lake-access canal right in the back yard. Or you might want to explore Tiger Creek in the paddleboat and see Old Florida as it once was! Located 5 miles off SR 60, this not only is a fisherman’s haven but you are no more than 2 1/2 hours to either the Atlantic or the Gulf coasts. Several of Florida’s main tourist attractions are less than 1 1/2 hours driving time: *Disneyworld 50 miles *Sea World 52 miles *Universal Studios 56 miles *MGM Studios 46 miles *Legoland 20 miles *Busch Gardens 70 miles Nature lovers will enjoy Lake Kissimmee State Park located less than 10-15 miles from you, and offering 13 miles of hiking trails. Several of central Florida’s other well-known fishing lakes are within close driving distance, such as Lake Kissimmee, Lake Rosalie, and Lake Arbuckle. You will find Lake Walk-in-the-Water to be one of the best kept secrets in Florida, away from heavy traffic and everyday bustle. Relax, sip iced tea on the front porch, watch the boats as they zip along the mirror-like surface of the water, and enjoy the cozy, homelike atmosphere. Make sure you visit the quaint little town of Frostproof while you’re here, and enjoy the cuisine at Frostbite, locally known for its ice cream, milk shakes and burgers, all served up with a 1950’s flair. Or take SR 60 into Lake Wales where you will find most all of the fast-food restaurants. Heartier appetites are sure to be pleased with local favorites, such as Manny’s, Sizzling Grill, Woody’s BBQ, and Crazy Fish Bar & Grill, along with other eateries in the area. You should find everything you need within a 15-30 minute drive. Years ago fishermen fished (waded) along the grass, reeds and shoreline at dawn and dusk, and young and old alike spent many hours swimming and water skiing on this pristine lake. This is absolutely NOT recommended today as there are alligators in this lake as well as in most all the lakes in Florida. Please enjoy your special time on the water but be safe - enjoy soaking in the beauty that surrounds you, and maybe catch some fish for dinner! We feel certain you will enjoy your stay at “the lake” - just let us know if we can help in any way to make your visit everything you hoped it would be! Guest access No use of pantry in laundry room, owner restock closet. Cleaning crew ONLY. No access to the main bedroom walk-in closet. All items in home are accounted for and are photographed before and after each guest. Please respect restricted zones. Other things to note The house is surrounded by water - the lake is just a few steps out the front door and there is a canal in the backyard. Please give special attention to your little ones while outside.
