Monte dos Vagabundos is an 8-hectare property half of which is fenced for our run-free rescue dogs. We are now offering part of the remaining land to animal lovers wanting to spend a unique experience in a gorgeous setting surrounded by nature and open views to the ocean and amazing sunsets/sunrises. All our dogs and pot-belly pigs are very impatient to meet you and welcome you for a big cuddle session, or an early-bird walk around the property, should you look for that type of experience. The space Our remodeled caravan is a cute cosy little nest (height of ceiling: 190cm), with own kitchenette, a resting/eating area and a double bed of 140x200cm. There is a separate semi-open ablutions block, with a dry toilet (emptied daily) , a hot shower and a washing bassin. In addition to our first little caravan nest, a second caravan will be ready by October 24, but it will be basic, aimed at the trekkers of the Rota Vicentina who are looking into a cheaper option with no need of kitchen and the need to reserve just for 1 night. it will also be optimal as. complement to our first caravan should you want to come along in a group (i.e. family, friends, etc..). It will have space for up to 3 people and will be rented separately. The property is located within the Vicentine Coast Natural Park, just 3km away from the center of Sao-Teotonio at the end of a dirt road. which makes it convenient for people trekking the Historical way. We are at 7km from Zambujeira-do-mar so also convenient to those trekking the Fisherman trail as we do offer pick-up and drop-off to any destination for a very reasonable price (availability to be checked before booking). While the closest restaurants and grocery shopping (Intermarche) are at walking distance for the most sportive (2-3km), we will also be available for lifts to/from town or a trip to/from the beach (Zambujeira do Mar is the closest, 7km away) at very little cost. Both towns have a supermarket and a few restaurant options (Portuguese, Italian, Indian, etc..) While tea/coffee is complementary, we will be offering 'DIY breakfast' left in the caravan the night before and DIY dinner. Both options are available at 10 euros per person and must be reserved upon reservation or one day in advance. We will leave bottled water in the caravan but can also organise for other drinks should you ask in advance (wine, beer, fresh orange juice, etc..) The caravan has the basics you will need to cook (oil, vinegar, salt, pepper). Guest access Our glamping space is located on an 8 hectare-property, of which 4 are fenced for our rescue sanctuary (dogs & pigs). The glamping space is directly at the entrance of the property, on a 1-hectare plot surrounded by young cork trees and pines. It is not fenced Other things to note Monte dos Vagabundos is an association which helps animal in needs and offer them refuge when the situation requests it. We do focus on the older dogs, or too traumatised or too handicapped to be adopted. We love all animals without distinction and aim at welcoming more farm animals, like our 5 pot-belly pigs and 1 horse (now in pension so he can be with friends). You will share the property with 2 humans and 27 rescues animals (22 dogs and 5 pot-belly pigs). The main house is 170 meters away from the caravan and all the doggies are inside a 4-hectare fenced area. It goes without saying that despite the distance between you and us and the fact that they are really cool dogs (mostly old, with a few crazy young ones), they all live as part of a clan and run free during the day so you can expect to hear barkings/singings sessions when they get excited for x,y,z reason (you arriving, you leaving, your dog(s) moving around, the neighbour walking by, the cows saying hello, us arriving/us leaving, etc....). But it normally does not last very long before they calm down again. The doggies are free to run in a 4.5 hectare enclosure most of the day but they are locked inside at night, which normally guarantees you a sound quite night from dusk to dawn. Then a little exitment is the norm early mornings when I open the doors to take them out for a walk and another little excitment time takes place before dinner. 100% of the money we receive from that rental will go back to the running costs of the association.
