A truly unique, tranquil escape. The space Get away from it all in true, glorious glamping style. This unique and much-loved retreat invites you to stay in two beautifully restored historic vehicles: a vintage WW1 railway carriage with a comfy double bed, and a military Brockhouse wagon used as a characterful living, dining and galley kitchen space. The kitchen is compact yet thoughtfully equipped with a sink, kettle, toaster, fridge and small hob – perfect for relaxed countryside meals. Both vehicles are finished to an exceptionally high standard, with heating, electricity, plenty of charging points, fresh linens, towels and complimentary basic toiletries. Much of the quirky décor has been lovingly sourced by the owners during their flying adventures, giving a gentle nod to times gone by. The Brockhouse is a particular hit with vintage lovers and military enthusiasts, while the railway carriage offers a cosy, romantic sleeping space full of charm. Set on a peaceful 38-acre hobby farm in the heart of the beautiful Waveney Valley – one of Suffolk’s newest ‘must-go’ destinations – enjoy private views across open fields, big skies and gently roaming free-range animals, including rescue and exotic residents. You’re welcome to explore the farm at your leisure, with the simple request that gates are kept closed and animals admired from afar unless accompanied by a guide. On the platform you’ll find a large BBQ, a steampunk-style shower and a proper flushing loo just a few steps from the carriage. In winter months the shower and toilet area can feel chilly, though an electric radiator is provided. This retreat has been a firm favourite with guests for the past three years and is now offered under new account management. It’s ideal for couples seeking romance and tranquillity, or small family groups, with the option of a private grass camping area available by arrangement at an additional cost. On-site experiences include alpaca walks, reindeer encounters and guided farm tours. Weather and pilot permitting, scenic coastal flights may also be available (cost-sharing fuel contribution applies; aircraft seats one guest at a time). There are many award-winning walks nearby, including a lovely route across the water meadows to the famous Geldeston Locks pub. A wonderful local farm shop is just a short stroll away, offering fresh bread, vegetables, meats and eggs – perfect for slow breakfasts and easy suppers inspired by the countryside. Friendly peacocks may pay you a visit and, if you’re lucky, might even eat from your hand. At night, you may hear animals moving beneath the platform or across the roof – rest assured, they’re farmyard friends, not wolves. There is no Wi-Fi, making this a perfect digital detox. Some distant road noise may occasionally be heard, and sensible footwear is recommended. Strictly no pets, and guests with animal allergies should consider carefully before booking. We kindly ask that the peaceful nature of the site is respected, with no noisy parties, as other retreats and a neighbour are nearby. A truly unique, romantic and tranquil escape – full of character, history and a little everyday magic. Guest access Please feel free to wander around the farm but do respect any retreats, such as yours, as they may be occupied. We positively welcome you interacting (gently and respectfully) with the animals on the farm. There is a parking area next to the carriage which is occasionally used by those visiting the farm, so there may be some activity from time to time but your space is clearly marked private, it is fenced off and surrounded by trees. Other things to note Set in the Waveney Valley, the farmhouse is just three miles from the market towns of Beccles and Bungay, offering a good selection of independent shops, cafés and restaurants. Several local eateries deliver to the farm via well-known food delivery services, making evenings in both simple and relaxed. For those who travel by air, the farm includes a grass airstrip and helicopter landing area. This allows visiting family or friends to come and go with ease, or for guests to enjoy the flexibility of flying in for weekends while longer stays continue uninterrupted. Regarding flights, this is done on a cost-sharing basis in a modern aircraft from the airstrip which is located on the farm. We can only take one person up at a time and ask for a £50 contribution for fuel PER PERSON. This is completely weather dependent and best booked on arrival as we hate to disappoint.
