Nearby Attractions: We're conveniently located just 2 miles from historic Wilton and 6 miles from medieval Salisbury, home to the awe-inspiring Salisbury Cathedral. Explore the Cathedral Close and nearby Old Sarum, or visit the iconic Wilton House, featured in Netflix's "The Crown." Shaftesbury’s, Gold Hill is a short drive and stop by to view the Fovant Badges on your way. Outdoor Adventures: For outdoor enthusiasts, we're close to the New Forest National Park, the beaches of Bournemouth, and paddleboarding opportunities at Mudeford Harbour. Secure storage is available for bikes and paddleboards during your stay. Day Trips Galore: Venture further afield with day trips to Bath, the riverside town of Bradford on Avon, and the world heritage site of Stonehenge. Explore Longleat, Stourhead, Avebury, Highclere Castle (of "Downton Abbey" fame) as well as National Trust properties galore —all within easy reach. Take a day trip to London or Winchester on the train. All these places and more are easily accessible from Barford St Martin by car or train from Salisbury or Tisbury railway stations. Guest access Enjoy your breakfast in our light filled orangery, or if the weather is good sit outside on the orangery patio, overlooking our beautiful garden. Relaxation is the key to enjoying your experience in our beautiful house. Evenings can be spent in our comfortable sitting room. Original features include a plank and muntin wall; oak beams and an inglenook fireplace where you can cosy up with a drink or two. We're a friendly couple who will make you welcome. If it's solitude you desire, then you have the freedom to have the exclusive use of the room for yourselves as we have another drawing room for our use. During your stay We work from home so there is always someone available to cater to your needs. We have lived in the area for over 20 years so have extensive local knowledge. Keen outdoor enthusiasts we can offer advice on the best places for cycling; paddleboarding or walking to make the most of your stay. If you have bikes or paddleboards we are happy to store in our outbuildings for the duration of your stay. Walkers have space to store or dry of their kit. We've experienced most of the pubs and places to eat so can point you in the right direction whatever your preferences or budget. We have an excellent pub in the village, within walking distance if you want to experience more of our friendly local community. Other things to note Family-Friendly: Families with young children are warmly welcomed. We provide a comfortable folding guest bed and bedding for children under 5 years old. For babies, we can provide a Graco Compact travel cot. We have a Tripp Trapp highchair available so your child can sit at the table with you for breakfast. A small additional charge applies for children/babies. Please note: The room will only accommodate an additional bed or cot for 1 baby or 1 child under 5 only. We are therefore unable to accept more than 1 child or baby or children over 5 years of age. We are non-smokers so unfortunately we cannot accept smokers. The house is not set up for pets as there are no fences around the perimeter of the house and there is no gate to the front of the house which means the house is not secure for dogs or pets. Sadly, we are unable to facilitate dogs or pets.
