The room is loft style and has a bathtub, a walk in shower, walk-in closet and a work study space. Extra to the space is a work/ art studio. The big balcony overlooks Bo-Kaap, the city of Cape Town and views of Table Mountain. The space Perched on Dorp Street in the Bo-Kaap neighbourhood is DAC, a multidisciplinary art and community space and an oasis of calm and serenity.DAC on Dorp sponsors emerging South African artists with free residencies and leaves the other months for international creatives and tourists to experience a unique Cape Town exposure. The three-story house is one of the tallest buildings in Bo-Kaap. You will experience stunning sunsets and views of the city and Table Mountain from the balconies. DAC on Dorp offers two studios which consist of a bedroom plus an atelier for you to work. The ground floor offers a communal area with a multitude of seating opportunities that gives you a chance to engage with others, to relax, to read, or to enjoy a meal. From the second floor a wooden spiral staircase will lead to a large and peaceful retreat on the top floor with its own large balcony. Hardwood floors throughout the space create a sense of warmth, and the gas fireplace could heat up the space on a chilly day. The studio provides an ensuite dressing area, an adjoining bedroom and ensuite bathroom. The small atelier on the second floor next to the staircase and the workspace on the top floor provides you with ample opportunities to be creative. If you are an avid cook, then the fully equipped kitchen provides you with ample opportunities to be creative. If you aren’t then there is plenty of great restaurants in the neighbourhood. Fancy a cup of coffee, tea, or fruit? You will find it in the kitchen. The large terrace, the various plants and trees, flowers, and the beautiful calls for prayer from the mosque, which is near the house, creates an oasis of serenity and calmness. The outdoor seating areas provide you with the opportunity to either start your day refreshed by having breakfast outdoors, daydreaming during the day or ending the day with a glass of wine listening to the sounds of Bo-Kaap. The plunge pool cools you off on a hot day and on a cold day it could prepare you for the various tidal pools in the ocean. You might want to take your chance! It is amazing. Guest access Guests are able to access the entire space except the other occupied bedroom and atelier. Other things to note Since we are a non profit and support local artists, the ground floor serves also as a gallery and is available to the public on Wednesday and Friday for a couple of hours ( 11am -2pm). At the same time cooking classes from Faezza's tea garden will be held on the terrace. During these hours one of the directors will be present. Since our place is in the Bo- Kaap area, I want to mention that a mosque is in close proximity to the house that calls for prayers.. The prayer calls are an integral part of the local culture and tradition and they are audible from the surrounding area. The house is located on 73 Dorp street in Bo Kaap .
