Newly renovated in 2023, this cozy hideaway features a fully stocked kitchen, dreamy bedroom, and an outdoor firepit with a Solo Stove—ideal for stargazing and s’mores. Close to Longwood, Hampden-Sydney, Sandy River Reservoir, local wineries, and Greenfront. Adventure and connection await! The space The cottage has been fully renovated and thoughtfully stocked for your ultimate countryside escape. Outdoor Spaces: Relax on the large, covered front porch, complete with a twin-size hanging swing—perfect for curling up with a book or indulging in the ultimate outdoor nap. Two cozy porch rocking chairs with a side tables provide extra comfort. A covered side porch, accessible from Bedroom #2, features two Adirondack chairs overlooking the old Paradise Apple tree—an ideal spot for morning coffee or a quiet moment at dusk. During the Spring and Summer enjoy catching glimpses of Eddie the Groundhog, who lives under the apple tree. Kitchen – WOW Factor: Prepare to be inspired in the fully stocked, gourmet kitchen, featuring upscale appliances, a Kutch gas stove, quartz countertops, a fireclay sink, stunning backsplash, open shelving, a window seat, and a charming fold-out wood dining table. We've thought of everything: cooking oils, spices, flour, sugar, and all essential tools. Plus: an electric kettle, blender, toaster, mini waffle maker, and a coffee station with creamers, sweeteners, and more. Living Area: Unwind on the comfy sectional sofa with ottoman, enjoy a movie on the large flat-screen TV, or cozy up by the electric fireplace. A round accent chair, books, and games round out this inviting space made for relaxation. Bedrooms: Two beautifully appointed bedrooms each feature a king-size bed, nightstands with reading lights and USB chargers, open closet systems with shelving, small bedside fans (in drawers), and sound machines for restful sleep. Bathroom: Enjoy the luxury of hardwood floors, a designer Kohler sink with quartz countertop, a lighted makeup mirror, and a subway tile shower with glass door. Complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and soaps are provided (please leave them for future guests). Extras: Washer and dryer (with detergent and dryer sheets) located in the bathroom Outdoor fire pit area with Adirondack chairs and bench seating, overlooking open fields and woods Propane gas grill just outside the kitchen with a prep table for your BBQ nights Property Notes: The cottage is nestled on 258 private acres. Our family occasionally uses the land for off-road motorcycle and horseback riding, but we’ll be well out of sight and far from the cottage during your stay. Just a heads-up that you may hear or see us in the distance on rare occasions. Guest access Guests are welcome to explore the property trails. During the winter months, for your safety, please wear one of the orange vests provided in the cottage. For the best outdoor experience, we recommend accessing the nearby High Bridge Trail, which runs directly through Rice, VA. From the trail access point, turn left to enjoy a scenic 5-mile journey to the High Bridge and the Appomattox River, or continue for 10 miles to reach downtown Farmville. Other things to note A Note About the Property: The cottage sits on a beautiful 258-acre private property that our family occasionally uses for off-road motorcycle riding and horseback riding. If we happen to be out riding during your stay, please know we’ll be well away from the cottage—down the driveway toward the creek and completely out of sight. We just want you to be aware that you may hear us in the distance from time to time, but your peace and privacy are always a priority.
