Thank you for visiting our site, and please let us introduce you to our story! In 2015 we moved to this house with our kids and dogs, and with hard work and the help of our extended family we bought 2 more homes and a basement. In 2022 we fufilled our dream to move to the countryside to live a more rural life- so we left behind our spaces as Airbnbs. We are checking them every week and working with two lovely cleaning ladies, Mária and Iluska. We have been involved in couch surfing communities, so we have a passion for hosting- these apartments for us represents that cultural exchange and understanding is the way towards peace amongst human beings. Our passion towards giving shelter to wanderers is as big as our passion towards interior design, upcycling, and honouring our Budapest heritage. All in our 3 apartments we are representing an authentic local style. In this MAGIC SHELTER you will see original Tatra Nabytok czech midcentury furnitures, potteries from our grandmothers, renovated retro chairs that were thrown to garbage- and you will see a full exhibition of Budapest based contemporary graphic artist's prints on the walls. We wouldnt say its 0% IKEA, as our towels and kitchenwares are from there... But you get the point :) Dorka is fun of quality oldies music, and she always dreamed about a vinyl player... Many times it happens that she inject her dreams into our Airbnbs :D So here you are, a nice vinyl player with records from international and hungarian retro artists! Pink Floyd, Doors, Jen Michel Jarre, Kate Bush... hope you like them! Dancing is allowed, there are no neighbours under the apartment! THE SPACE This apartment is 30 m² + 10 m² loft area. When entering the flat you arrive to the KITCHEN. It is fully equipped for cooking: we have a a stove, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, a decent coffee mashine with quality coffee provided- and art on the wall, of course! The BATHROOM opens from the kitchen. It has a folding door, handpainted blue tiles and wooden floor (both made by myself), a shower, the toilet and enough space to put down your cosmetics. From the kitchen you can get to the LIVING ROOM. We have a dining table here which seats comfortably 4 people. There is an orange pull out sofa here (140x200cm) that can also sleep 2 people. The colors, shades of greens and oranges are reflecting back the diversity of nature. The apartment is full with plants, that were pre-loved in our own family home and were transfered to the shelter. Please do not water them, as Mári tooks care of them when she cleans. In the livingroom you find the vinyl player which also serves as a bluetooth speaker. The walls are full with Budapest based conteporary artist graphics- for artist names please check out our photo gallery! You can listen to our special vinyl collection, selected by Dorka. All the potteries and porcelines are from family heritage- please take care of them! There is a chess/baggamon wooden board on your serve as well- nothing like a day spent in, drinking wine, listening vinyls and playing board games! We also have a smart TV with a Netflix account with movies and series. Please note that there is no cable TV. The LOFT area above the living room is 10 m², where we have a queen sized bed with high quality boxspring mattress (160x200cm) that sleeps 2 people. You can find a meditative altar also with Dorka's own equipments which she used before ♥ Candles, singing bowl, incences and a beautiful artpiece provides a zen athmosphere to have a date with yourself. SUITABILITY The apartment is on the ground floor, there are only 3 steps at the entrance, but inside the apartment there is a steep stairway towards the loft bedroom. Therefor we think it is not suitable for small children, eldres, or for guests with reduced mobility. BUILDING and OUTER AREAS Our building was built in 1870, in classicist style which is very specific to the Budapest architecture overall. The building is the neighbour of the famous Museum of Applied Arts, a breath taking building that we have a sight on from the enormous garden. There is a big common yard in the middle of the building, surrounded by the corridors upstairs, which is also very special Budapest style. The yard can be used by all tenants, many times the kids of the house are playing around :) Front of the apartment there is a little chilling place where you can have a coffe eand cigarette in the morning. And the most unique thing is our garden behind the yard: with its 20 meter high trees its a little forest in the middle of the city. Its not only nice to sit under them, but they provide a very good air quality compared with our central location. This building is a real treasure with its peace and quietness, the perfect choice for those who want to have a calm space after walking around the crazy-monumental city of Budapest. Guest access The MAGIC SHELTER is all yours, you can use everything you find! We know you will take care of everything like they were your own :) You can also use the patio front of the apartment, and of course you can also use our beutiful huge forest garden, with a view to the Apllied Arts Museum. Other things to note This little heaven is designed and upkept by us, Nándor and Dorka, a married couple who are running 2 other listings in the house.
