Superior Sunset Cabin

An off-grid cabin on a bluff overlooking Lake Superior, with staircase to your own beach access. Sunsets every night (weather permitting...) Technological detox in a pristine area. Just a 25 minute walk from the Presque Isle Scenic Area, the most beautiful part of the Porcupine Mountains. PLEASE NOTE: This is an OFF-GRID cabin, intended for those seeking to reconnect with Nature and with themselves. Read on for full details. *** If bringing pets, please pay the pet fee *** The space NOTE: This is an OFF-GRID cabin: no electricity, no running water, compost toilets, etc. These are not limitations, but perks, helping you reconnect with a more simple existence. We do provide ample water, but recommend you bring some of your own. Staircase leading to Lake Superior pebble beach. One large main room with westward views of sunsets over the Lake 365 days a year (weather permitting): propane fridge, propane stove, wood-burning stove; with futon (sleeps two, together) One smaller bedroom with roll-out trundle bed (sleeps two, separately) Large enclosed screen porch, ideal for enjoying the outdoors without the pesky bugs -- now with a very comfy hammock! Outside area has shade tent, picnic table, fire ring, swing set on the beach. Please bring your own wood! To minimize impact on the land, we discourage gathering logs from the area (a bit of kindling is fine). There is a solar shower bag, useful on sunny days. Otherwise, you may be able to take a shower at the Sunday Lake Campground in Wakefield (takes quarters). You can also jump in Lake Superior, which is great for your health. The mouth of the Presque Isle River has the deepest water for swimming. Very weak cell reception and no internet— ideal for finding clarity. We can hook up internet for you at the main cabin for a small fee. Please bring your own sleeping bag / blankets / linens. Due to lack of power for laundry machine / laundromat nearby, we do not provide linens. Bring flashlights, candles, and anything else you need to be comfortable. There are no amenities up here— get everything you need in town in advance! Wakefield is 20 minutes away. Guest access Can use the entirety of the cabin and explore the land freely. Please note: during your stay the beach access remains open to us and also our neighbors (who visit infrequently). Other things to note *** If bringing pets, please pay the pet fee *** Please bring your own firewood, water, linens/sleeping bags. Some drinking water will be provided. There is no "shower." There is a solar shower bag-- you fill it with water, leave in the sun, then hang it in the bathhouse. The water gets quite warm on a sunny day. Otherwise, you can bathe in the Lake (please use only nontoxic soaps) or at the Sunday Lake Campground in Wakefield. Absolutely no firearms.
