Watermelon House

Located on a full acre lot, this HUGE 3,000 square foot home offers peace and tons of space for your group! A great place to gather, relax, and spread out on the couches between your adventures. This home is on city water, so it is clean and safe - no tank to attract mosquitos. 5 miles to Hilo, 21 miles to Hawaii Volcanoes N.P., 5 miles to Panaewa Rainforest Zoo, 12 miles to Carlsmith park! There is an onsite host in a separate area who will be mostly invisible but there for any needs. The space Spacious living room provides a great gathering place with lots of couch space. Living room also includes a smart TV, lots of board games, and some toys for little people. There is an additional family room, adjacent to the living room, that can be used for sleeping on the bunk bed and couch bed. The family room also has a foosball table and classic arcade games. The full kitchen is equipped with just about anything you might need for your stay including a full stove and oven, a dishwasher, a crock pot, instant pot, griddle, blender, and drip coffee. The dining room has a table that seats 8 people. We also have provided two additional fold-up tables and eight folding chairs. The covered patio (Lanai) is just off the living room and primary bedroom, and includes seating for four with a patio table and a barbecue grill. If you can't completely escape from work during your trip, you will appreciate a quiet & private dedicated office space with a comfortable office chair and desk, large monitor, keyboard and mouse. Just bring your laptop and hook it up. An attached 2-car garage is available for use during your stay. Sleeping accommodations are in 4 bedrooms plus the family room. Primary Bedroom Suite: Queen bed, walk-in closet, private bathroom, dedicated office space! Bedroom 2: Queen bed Bedroom 3: Queen Bed Bedroom 4: Queen Bed Family Room/Sleeping Area: Queen couch bed, Full and Twin bunkbed, private bathroom Three Full bathrooms are located in the primary bedroom suite, the family room, and next to bedroom 4. An additional half bath is in the hallway near the kitchen. We can provide baby chairs, pack-n-plays, and umbrella strollers for infants and toddlers. The spacious yard includes fruit trees and a beautiful lawn for enjoying with your group. Guest access Guests will have access to the main house and the 2-car garage on the right. There is an additional section of the house, completely separate from this section that may be rented to a different group of up to four people. Guests may park inside the garage on the right closest to the house, and in front of the garage on the left. They can also park on the paved area in front of the front door. Limit of five vehicles. Please do not park on the street. We will give you an electronic door code to the front door on or before the day of your arrival. Other things to note There is bed space for up to 13 people, but we can provide sleeping pads for up to two more people. The guesthouse is attached through the garage and can be reserved separately, with a queen bed and sofa bed in the unit. If you reserve both "The Watermelon House" and the "Guesthouse Near Hilo" through AirBnB for the same date, there is bed space for up to 17 people and three additional sleeping pads available (up to 20 people). Please contact us through AirBnB if you would like to reserve the guesthouse more than 6 months in advance. We keep the Guesthouse calendar blocked off for longer than 6 months out to allow larger groups to be able to reserve both sides. Also, be aware that bugs and critters are part of island life. We do routinely spray for bugs, but sometimes they still show up. Please help us keep pests under control by keeping all food put away in sealed containers in the refrigerator, by not leaving food out on the counter or in cupboards, by wiping food remnants off counters, and by promptly cleaning dishes after use. Trash needs to be routinely bagged up and taken out to the garage as well. Also do not leave doors open for long periods of time, especially after dark. Mahalo!
