The main terrace, accessible directly from both the living room and the kitchen through French doors, offers a comfortable shaded lounge area together with a spacious outdoor dining space—perfect for enjoying meals while overlooking the sea. At the far end of the terrace, beneath the shade of a fragrant orange tree, guests will find a quieter, more secluded corner ideal for reading or relaxing. The terrace is furnished with comfortable cushioned rattan sofas and armchairs, an outdoor dining table with seating, large sun umbrellas, and sun loungers. From here, guests can enjoy uninterrupted panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea stretching all the way to the horizon. The Story of Villa Savina Villa Savina was built by Maria Grazia Cinque and her husband, Francesco, on land that had belonged to Maria Grazia's family for generations. The villa takes its name from a large juniper tree ("savina" in the local dialect) that once stood near the entrance to the property. According to local tradition, the juniper possessed protective powers against the evil eye. Its branches were tied between the horns of cattle before they were taken to pasture to protect them from evil spirits. The property was also home to the family's traditional bread oven, where Maria Grazia's parents, Angela and Giuseppe, baked bread for their large family using nearly 100 pounds (45 kg) of flour, flavored with wild fennel seeds gathered from the surrounding mountainsides. After baking, the bread was dried so it could be preserved for weeks, sometimes even months. For centuries, every family in Nocelle owned a large bread oven, as the village remained completely isolated until the road connecting it to Positano was completed in 2002. Francesco's father, Giovanni, emigrated to the United States during the 1920s, where he opened a fruit and vegetable store in the Bronx. His sons, Francesco and Antonio, later joined him, and together they worked in America for many years. When the family eventually returned to Positano, they purchased an 18th-century villa, transforming it into what has become one of the town's best-known historic hotels. Following their marriage, Maria Grazia and Francesco fulfilled their dream of building their family home in the peaceful village of Nocelle, perched high on the mountainside overlooking the sea above Positano. Today, that dream lives on as Villa Savina—a home where generations of family history, local traditions, and genuine Italian hospitality come together to offer guests an unforgettable stay.
