With its gabled front door access, off-road parking for one car on a gated driveway and just a five-minute walk from the heart of the popular and vibrant Georgian market town of Melbourne, 'Spring Vale Cottage' is the perfect base for someone wanting to stay for a couple of nights with work or for a couple's weekend getaway to explore beautiful South Derbyshire. Lovingly renovated and extended in 2023, the cottage is divided into a living/bedroom, kitchenette, shower room and hallway/workplace. The space Spring Vale Cottage is compact, yet spacious, light, warm and cosy, and a beautiful blend of new and old – all the mod cons you'd expect, plus exposed beams and vaulted ceilings, which give the space real character and charm. The cottage is divided into an entrance hallway with a small workspace. Off the hall is a simply equipped kitchenette/utility area and a separate shower room. You then drop down two steps (with a handrail) into the combined bedroom and living space. There is underfloor heating throughout the cottage and free WIFI is available. In the bedroom/living space, there are two armchairs where you’ll get great views of Spring Vale House's rear garden with its large Victorian greenhouse, ornate box hedging and abundant flower beds. Amenities also include a comfy king-size bed with bed linen, a wall-mounted large Samsung smart TV (with Netflix available), two chests of drawers, and a double wardrobe with hanging rails and good storage space. There are also some books, magazines and games to keep younger and older guests entertained. The living space opens out onto the garden via large bi-folding doors. There's an outdoor eating area in the Spring and Summer months for guests to enjoy al fresco dining alongside views of the beautiful South Derbyshire countryside beyond. Facilities in the shower room include a walk-in rainfall and hand-held mixer shower, vanity cupboard and basin, WC and heated towel rail, towels, and shower mat. Facilities in the simple kitchenette/utility area include a kettle, toaster, combined microwave/grill, a two-ring hob, a SMEG fridge (with a small freezer compartment) ceramic sink and dish drainer. The room also holds the main house washing machine and tumble drier, which the host will not use when guests are in the cottage. Guest access Check into the cottage is from 2 pm and Helen will be there to greet you or self-check via a key safe. Guests have the run of the bedroom/seating area, kitchenette/ utility room, shower room and shared garden, and will be left undisturbed unless assistance is required when the host Helen we will be pleased to help. Check-out is by 10 am. Other things to note 1. There are four pull-down blinds in the living/sleeping space for privacy at low level and black-out blinds in the four roof lights. In the summertime, sunlight naturally streams in the earlier hours through the two-end gable windows, so guests who may be light-sensitive can request temporary window covers or eye masks. 2. Spring Vale cottage is connected to the main house via a wooden/glass pane door in the kitchenette/utilit, which is partially blacked out and locked when guests are in residence. 4. The kitchenette/ utility room provides a fridge freezer, tea and coffee facilities, a toaster, and a combi grill/microwave, two-ring hob so you can easily rustle up something simple to eat. Please note that there is no dishwasher in the cottage. But there are also lots of delicious eateries, coffee/breakfast venues and restaurants in Melbourne including the well-known Bay Tree Champagne Breakfast, Melbourne Hall Tea Rooms, Jack’s coffee shops and Forties – stocked with Hambleton Bakery delights, The Spirit Vaults and The Brewhouse taproom and bar. 5. The garden is shared with the main house occupants, but only for tendering to the garden and Nessie (a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) to roam occasionally. 6. The living area/bedroom and utility/kitchenette both share access to a private study room which will be locked and unused whilst guests are in the cottage. 7. There is a security camera at the front door entrance to Spring Vale Cottage, which is part of Spring Vale's house alarm system and monitors those coming to and from the property.
