Description

Hope Lodge nestles in the grounds of Aldermoor Farmhouse, alongside Aldermoor Community Farm and provides a sanctuary in the otherwise bustling city of Southampton. It is a short walk to the General Hospital, close to the University of Southampton and we are on the No17 bus route to the city centre. Hope Lodge sleeps 2–4 people, providing a king-size bed and a double sofa–bed if needed. Besides the bedroom there is a walk–in shower room and living area with a small fully equipped kitchenette. The space Hope Lodge is a warm, bright, airy space in a beautiful setting - perfect for both short and long stays. The accommodation is well equipped throughout. Underfloor heating provided by the eco friendly air source heat pump helps ensure a consistent, comfortable temperature. The living space is an open plan room with a 3-section bifold door opening to the courtyard. Furniture includes a comfy sofa-bed, armchair and dining table that seats four. There is a TV and the wifi connection is good. The kitchenette includes electric hob, oven, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine. It is fully equipped with kitchen equipment for you to do your own cooking. The bedroom is light and airy, with a king size bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables. The bathroom is kitted out as a wet room, with a spacious walk in shower (there is no bath). Towels & bed linen are provided. For long stays (over 30 nights) a fortnightly laundry and cleaning service is included. Immediately adjacent to Hope Lodge there is one space off-road to park your car. Any other cars can be parked on the road. Those staying are free to wander in the beautiful garden and picnic at the tables there. Younger guests will probably enjoy the slide and swing - a great way to let off steam before bedtime [any equipment is used at your own risk]. Within the garden is the Shepherd’s Hut, a place set aside for prayer, which is free to use should you desire some space to be still or pray. Ask the hosts for access details. Sometimes, on a Saturday, there will be a family event in the Farmhouse garden, which you are welcome to join in with. Just next door up the hill from the farmhouse is Aldermoor Community Farm, with a farm shop open on Wednesday (10-6), Thursday (10-6) and Saturday (9-5). At these times you can wander round and see the animals, peruse the Emporium of upcycled goods and shop at the farm shop for fresh produce grown and sourced locally. They also sell ice creams, barista coffee, and have a few cakes and savouries. Should there be something you need your hosts Kathy and Richard are on hand to help if they can. Other things to note Aside from all that Southampton has to offer, both in the city centre and beyond, there are many other popular attractions within easy travelling distance. These include places like Peppa Pig World, Paultons Park, Monkey World, Beaulieu Motor Museum and The New Forest which is full of wonderful pubs and beautiful places to walk. If you are stuck for ideas on places to visit please ask your hosts for suggestions!
