While just a 10 minute drive from the Santa Fe Plaza, you'll feel a world away where you can see the stars, hear the coyotes howl, and wander through the juniper-piñon hills. @casa.chicoma The space 🐶 PETS ~ Well-behaved + friendly dogs are permitted (2 max per reservation). Please let us know upon booking how many you are bringing and we will send you our pet policy and a request for the fee of $20/dog/per day. 🌻 Welcome to La Chihuahua: A light-filled, cozy space, our freestanding casita is enhanced by knotty-pine walls and ceilings, recycled carpeting, and decor featuring plants and dogs – our two favorite things. Enjoy your coffee on the sunny patio and take a morning walk into the hills, hop over to town for exploring and lunch (10 min by car to the Plaza), return for an evening dip in the swimming hole and enjoy a glass of wine and dinner at our outdoor community table. Don’t forget a stargazing session before bed, and sleep soundly knowing you get to enjoy it all again. We have a large solar array on the property that supplies 100% of our energy, and a roof water collection system for watering the gardens. We bring new vitality to the New Mexican desert environment by growing organic fruits and vegetables, making compost, and practicing integrated landscaping. There are greenhouses, fruit and nut trees and an outdoor harvest table under the grape arbor. Guest access + COMMUNAL SPACES + While each casita is completely private, we have several outdoor spaces for any guests at the casa to enjoy. Feel free to wander the paths through the property, pop in our two greenhouses, plunge into the natural swimming hole, and explore the 3 miles of neighborhood trails behind us. Enjoy a meal or cocktail at our community dining table, and please ask if you'd like to have a bonfire. (We provide wood for $5/bundle, and fires are permitted if no fire bans are in place and the weather is calm). Other things to note + There are two dogs who live on the property - you may see them roaming around and know they are friendly, even if they bark at first! + We recommend traveling in a 4WD or AWD vehicle when visiting between late October—March, if you want to avoid the possibility of being snowed in! We live off a dirt road and cannot guarantee how quickly it gets plowed.
