The fish and crabs are here waiting to meet you, and vessels of all kinds cruise, steam, sail, and pass by for your endless parade. The first colonists landed in front of Toney's Landing on March 25, 1634, and you can venture out to the historic island on a water taxi from the nearby Potomac River Museum and spend the day. Solomon's Island, Point Lookout, and Saint Mary's City are twenty-minute drives. Solomon's Island and Point Lookout are short land trips, while your boat can take you up and down the Potomac to many great spots to dine, dig for shark teeth, and, of course, the real deal - TO FISH. For the purist without a boat, don't worry; you don't need one. That is why you need to make Toney's Landing your regular fishing heaven and just fish from the pier. Guest access Toney's Landing, along with a private pier, are for the exclusive use of guests. No fishing license is needed for fishing or crabbing, simply pull up Md DNR info online for details on size and species. Other things to note Toney's Landing is a Geezer Fishing and Crabbing Paradise. Take your bored teens to the Ocean; they won't like it here. Dolphins swimming past the pier, having coffee while fishing at 6 am, and having lunch over the water with the umbrella shading your iced tea is what movies are made from. Make your memories here while you dump your cell phone overboard and leap to catch your fishing rod being ripped from the pier by a big skate. Chicken neckers will love this place, two crab pots are here along with long crab nets.
