This beautiful mountain getaway is located in Grayson County Virginia. Relax in a hammock on the porch or on the banks of the New River. Being centrally located allows visitors to explore many outdoor recreational areas like Grayson Highlands State Park, the New River Trail, and the Creeper Trail. Spend time exploring the small towns of Independence, Sparta, or nearby West Jefferson. Wildlife abounds as you spend your days along the New River. You will LOVE spending time here. The space Mulligan's Retreat is going to become your new favorite destination for peace and tranquility. Spend your days hiking, biking, or kayaking local points of interest. If a slower pace is what you have in mind, simply relax in a hammock along the river or on the massive wrap around porch. Spending time in this very special space will renew your soul and bring you back to nature. If you are looking to truly unplug and get away from it all, Mulligan's Retreat on the New River is the perfect destination for you, your family, and your friends. We have recently installed satellite wi-fi through StarLink. Network information and passwords will be provided at check-in. Since this is a satellite provided service, we can not guarantee that you will have constant internet access. Our service has been quite good, but if you MUST be connected to wi-fi throughout your stay, please consider another property. We want all of our guests to have a 5-star experience and would hate to disappoint a guest with something that we do not have total control over all of the time. Guest access The entire main level of living space is available to you and your guests. The property extends across the gravel road to 200 feet of riverfront heaven along the New River. You can build a fire in the fire pit, cookout on the charcoal grill, enjoy cocktails by the river, or try your hand at fishing. You have private access to the entire property and we hope that you will enjoy it respectfully by taking care of the property and removing any garbage or debris on the river bottom after use. Other things to note You can expect to have a decently stocked kitchen with basics like olive oil, red wine/balsamic vinegars, and basic spices. Please feel free to use these as needed. If we run out of something during your stay, please let us know so that we can replace it as quickly as possible for the next guests. We love and welcome well-behaved dogs at Mulligan's Retreat. We are pet owners and enjoy traveling with our dogs as well. We do have a few requests when it comes to your pets: 1) Dogs are never to be left unattended in the house unless crated. Often, even well-behaved dogs can be destructive in a new environment. 2) Do not allow wet or muddy dogs to romp on the furniture or beds. 3) Do not use towels, blankets, or sheets (intended for guests) for your dogs (we have a pet basket with towels, shampoo, and sheets if needed for your dogs). 4) We do not have a fenced in area that will secure your dog. If your dogs will stay with you, they do not need to be leased. If however, your dogs will run away, you might want to consider keeping them on a leash while outdoors. **If carpet, bedding, or furniture is soiled and requires additional or professional cleaning, you will incur a $150 cleaning fee. The house is not suitable for small children in that the house is in NO WAY CHILDPROOF. There are no locks on cabinet doors, no safety guards in plugs, and there is a small loft area that could be dangerous for unattended children. If you choose to rent the property and you bring children, you are doing so at your own risk. We can not responsibility for their safety while on the property.
