StrawFork is for all 4 seasons! 6 miles southeast of Fossil near the John Day River for fishing and rafting or exploring hiking the High Desert with forests, ranches, rock quarries, dig for fossils, rugged mountains! It would be perfect for anyone who wants exploration and experience central Oregon. Our cabin would be peaceful, relaxing or inspiring to those that need a place to work and/or be creative. It is on the Journey thru Time Hwy! Visit all of John Day Fossil Bed National Monument! The space Experience serenity n comfort in our loft cabin! The ground floor features a living area with a futon, dining table, full kitchen, full bath, and a master bedroom with a queen bed. The loft a twin bed and a twin-over-full bunk bed. Ample natural light fills the cabin through large windows, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere plus a fully equipped kitchen! ( see amenities) Step outside to our spacious deck , perfect for enjoying the scenic views, wildlife and starlit nights! All seasons it is close to Painted Hills, Blue Basin, the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, & Thomas Condon Visitor Center! Guest access Guests have exclusive access to the entire cabin during their stay. This includes all rooms, amenities, and outdoor areas associated with the cabin. You’ll have complete privacy to enjoy the cabin and its surroundings. For more information of this area go to wheeler county website. Events Blue Grass Festival and Fossil Rodeo! Spray Rodeo Come visit! We would be able to set up desk area if needed. The landscaping and fencing is not finished but you have own private space with all the comfort of home! Other things to note -Arrival & Departure Times: Please let us know your estimated arrival and departure times so we can prepare the cabin for you. -House Rules: We kindly ask our guests to respect the cabin and its surroundings. This includes no smoking, no pets, and no parties or events to ensure a peaceful environment for all, we have a quiet time from 10 pm to 7 am. -Amenities: While we provide essential amenities, guests may want to bring personal items such as toiletries, pillows n blankets! There is a full kitchen so can prepare your own meals. There is Bbq outside so can cook outside where there is dining and a gas fire pit with chairs. Bring tools for fossil or rock hunting!! If you want TV please ask! -Weather Conditions: As the cabin is located in natural setting, guests should be prepared for varying weather conditions and plan their travel and activities accordingly. -Wildlife: The cabin is located in a region rich in wildlife. While this adds to the charm of the location, guests are advised to be cautious and respectful of the local fauna and wildlife. Town of Fossil has stores, an eatery, museum, Kinzua Golf course, lakes , forest, river and hikes are nearby. -Accessibility: Please note that the cabin has a loft accessible by stairs, and steps on deck which might not be suitable for guests with mobility issues and toddlers and young children! So if you bring your toddlers and babies, make sure you bring items that will keep them safe in or out of cabin!!
