Enjoy indoor propane heat & fridge, outdoor fireplace & covered BBQ/cooking hut, screened in porch, and upper balcony! A PRIVATE outhouse is provided. The space Welcome! Fox Hollow is located 7 minutes south of Golden on the side of Moonraker Mountain, with endless forest trails and dramatic views. We (Claire and Matt) invite you to join us here in the forest. We envisioned beautiful, low cost lodgings where travelers could come and explore nature at their doorstep or all around Golden’s central location. Fox Hollow’s small 10’ x 12' space has everything you need to slow down and reconnect with each other, yourself, and nature. Perfect for solo adventurers, couples, and groups willing to clean up after themselves and pack-in/pack-out BEDDING/drinking water/garbage. "PAY IT FORWARD CLEANING" EVERY GUEST is responsible for creating a safe, clean, welcoming experience for fellow travelers. Because no cleaning service is provided, your ability to “leave the Hollow as you found it” is fundamental to maintaining an affordable experience. This means cleaning dishes/cabin/cook top and replacing all items to their original locations. (We do check in often to do deeper cleaning.) The outdoor fireplace is available when permitted (local fire bans are sometimes in place). Bring a hatchet for deadfall or your own wood. A hand saw is in the bbq hut. The cabin is equipped with: - 2 single bunk beds (one is 8 feet above the floor) - 1 queen bed (8" memory foam mattress) * all mattresses have custom vinyl, easy clean covers - Propane heater - Propane fridge - Propane 1 burner cooktop for boiling and heating only (* Propane IS PROVIDED for these 3 appliances.) - dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, cutting board, dishwashing basin, empty water jug with spout - kitchen basics: salt/pepper/steak spice, dish soap, tea towel - hand coffee grinder and manual drip coffee maker (bring beans or ground) - wash water from rain barrels during warmer seasons. (*In winter, when available, snow can be melted on the stove.) - Carbon monoxide detector and fire extinguisher are on site for your safety while using the propane appliances. The BBQ/cooking hut is equipped with: - 2 burner stove including propane (frying and smoky cooking is done outside of cabin) - Webber charcoal bbq (BRING your own charcoal) The outhouse is equipped with: - toilet paper/sanitizer - indoor motion lights Solar lights are on the trail, at the parking area, and in the porch. You bring: - BEDDING: pillows, sheets & blankets or sleeping bags (2 single bunks, 1 queen pull out) - WATER for drinking and cooking - CHARCOAL & lighter cubes/paper/matches for bbq (*optional, as you can use the camp stove for all your cooking.) - your food and garbage bags (dish cleaning scrubbies, if you want to ensure a fresh one) - power pack for charging phone Feel free to bring: - camp hatchet for deadfall (or camp wood) for outdoor fireplace OR - BC wood bundles for the outdoor firebowl - bike (lock if desired) - snowshoes, cross country skis, back-country skis - head lamp for night adventures - bear spray and mosquito repellant - propane fire bowl and propane especially during local fire bans **** ALL INCLUSIVE $50 option is available for most stays. - bedding (sleeping bags, queeen sheets, pillows, blankets) - water, briquettes, and extra kitchen items - one price/visit, for up to 4 guests. **** Fire Bowl and Propane rental also available, $30/first night and $10/each additional night. Guest access As guests, you'll have private access to the entire cabin, BBQ/cooking hut, and outhouse for the duration of your stay. The parking area is shared with possibly two other vehicles, and you have a one minute walk to Fox Hollow. Driving up to Fox Hollow requires gentle off road driving for 1 km. 4 wheel drive is recommended in winter. In the case of crazy conditions, we have a truck with chains! The Moonraker Mountain trail system crosses our land. It is maintained by Golden Cycling Club and is open to the public with access from the parking area at Gudjonson Trailhead. Other things to note SMOKING: outside only and PLEASE always use the ash buckets, so that ash and butts can be disposed of away from the mountain. THANKS PETS: Not permitted LADDER SAFETY: The outside ladder to the upper deck is steep and can get slippery. *SNOW must be brushed or shoveled off the steps before using, or ice will form on the steps. *DO not use ladder if intoxicated.
