Our saltwater pool and spa give way to carefully curated landscaping that blends into the surrounding desert. Three reclining pool loungers, three large umbrellas, and a conversation set for morning coffee or sunset cocktails complete the pool deck furnishings. A gas firepit and seating area cut into the gently sloped property. Grab a blanket from inside on chilly nights. A large shaded pergola features Adirondack chairs, a cozy outdoor picnic table, and a propane BBQ for grilling. A four hole disc golf course winds around the property’s three acres of natural desert habitat, and a hammock arrangement allows up to 8 people to take in the starry sky. Bocce ball is another game for the whole crew, and spectators can watch from the pool. IG: ocotillo.house.jt -Living Area- Picture windows and an 18 foot slider allow stunning panoramic desert views from the living room. Take a seat on our full-sized sofa, grab a velvety swivel chair or relax on our retro mid-century accent chair. Our telescope is a great way to observe the distant hills, wildlife, or the stars and moon. An upright piano, guitar, djembe drum and various handheld percussion instruments will coax the musicians out of your group. The game cubby of the entertainment center has all the games you could ask for. Blankets for colder nights are rolled up and stored to the right of the piano. Bring your login information for premium streaming service channels on our smart TV. You can also stream music right from your phone quickly and easily. -Kitchen & Dining- The chef's kitchen is fully stocked with modern stainless steel appliances and all the essential cooking utensils needed for preparing delicious meals. We can provide a list of utensils, and supply missing utensils with advanced notice. The open concept kitchen layout is functional and fun to use. The dining table seats 8 comfortably, and four bar stools are useful for quick meals at the island. -Bedrooms & Bathrooms- The Ocotillo House features three main bedrooms and a fourth flex room that can sleep one, or be used as an office for remote work. Each room features ductless heating and cooling units for exceptional climate control. Beyond the pool, a bocce ball court provides a fun experience for all ages. A four hole disc golf course wraps around the expansive property. Each guest will find a shoulder bag with discs in the bedrooms. A hammock star is the perfect way to take in Joshua Tree’s famous night sky. Please note that there is a closet in the primary bedroom that is locked to guests and used for hosting supplies. Other things to note -Pool Heating Fee- Should you wish to have the pool heated please notify us at least 5 days before you arrive so we can calculate fuel costs. Price ranges from $50 to $300 per day based on overnight temperatures. We will set the temp at 88 degrees. *There is no extra fee to heat the hot tub* -Hot Tub Heating- The hot tub can be turned on at any time and will run for 45 min on a timer. It takes 30 min to 1 hour to heat up depending on starting temp. After pushing the button to turn the spa on, a red light will flash indicating that it is working. You may need to wait a moment to see action as the pump is on the other side of the house. You can run the hot tub on 45 min intervals as many times as you’d like. Please press the hot tub button again to turn it off when you are done to conserve energy. -Pool and Hot Tub Service- The pool and hot tub are serviced Tuesday’s and Friday’s, between 11am and 4pm. Our technician will knock or ring the doorbell to let you know he’s there, but if he doesn’t get a response he’ll walk around the house announcing himself as he gets close to the pool. Typically pool and spa service takes less than 30 minutes. You’re free to use the pool and spa before and immediately after cleaning as our saltwater system requires very little chemical treatment. -Dogs- Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate dogs safely at the Ocotillo House. Our property is unfenced and coyotes prey on pets. Guests with pet allergies will be very comfortable in our home. -Security Cameras/noise monitoring- Security cameras are used to monitor the number of vehicles and guests in order to ensure compliance with local ordinances for vacation rentals. A floodlight camera on the street side of the house provides a motion activated flood light for guest peace of mind, while a ring doorbell, and a camera above the carport monitor and record. We have a noise monitoring device that alerts us if decibel levels are high enough to be considered nuisance level from the street. There are no cameras in the house or in the pool area. -Amplified Music/Noise Control- The desert is very quiet, and sound travels a long way. Small, portable Bluetooth speakers can be used at a low volume during the day. We do not allow any amplified music outside during quiet hours. Anything larger than a small, portable sized Bluetooth speaker is prohibited even inside the house. When outside, please be aware of how far your voice can travel. Especially after hours. Please talk quietly. I know we have a lot of land but the desert is full of people who moved there for peace and quiet. We want to be good neighbors! -Parking- Our carport can accommodate two vehicles, and an additional two vehicles can be parked on the property. Additional vehicles will be charged $100 per night per vehicle. The carport has a fast charger for charging one electric vehicle. This has a J1772 plug. Please do not pull all the way through the carport or your vehicle and our concrete may be damaged. There is no street parking allowed by county ordinance. -Neighborhood- When walking around the neighborhood, you must stay on the roads. Even if surrounding property is un-fenced or minimally fenced. At the house, please stay within the stakes that mark the property line and never, ever jump fences or pass through gates under any circumstances. There is a water tower up the road on private land, which is not accessible. This is private property and the owners will consider it trespassing. -Trash & Recycling Service- Garbage is collected on Thursdays. Please make sure the cans are at the curb on Thursday if you bring them closer to the house. Also, please crush all of your recycling before putting it in the bin. -Early Check-in- We will do our best to let you check in early if we can, but this is only if there was no guest the previous night. Just please don’t arrive early unless given permission, as our cleaning crew will likely be hard at work if you arrive before 3pm. -Late Checkout- We do our very best to give you as much time as possible at our home. Staying past checkout adds real costs because of extra cleaning staff and even professional linen services needed when there is not enough time to clean properly. So unfortunately we have to charge $35 for every 15 minutes past checkout. These fees go to our hardworking cleaning staff. Thanks for understanding. Last minute late checkout may be available if the night of your checkout isn’t booked. If it’s free, you can stay until 9pm for 50% of the that night’s rate. Let us know if you have questions!
