Denver Library archives have a picture of the house dated 1864. Central City is full of history and used to be the richest square mile on earth in gold mining. LITTLE VICTORIAN RETREAT (30 min from Denver downtown) is an adorable restored and remodeled victorian cottage built during Colorado Gold Rush. It is located only 30 minutes from Denver downtown and 8 miles from Idaho Springs in the heart of local attractions. There are small mountain towns around rich in mining and railroad history with antique shops, historic sites, museums, beautiful trails, scenic drives, ski resorts... Gamble and dine in casinos of Blackhawk and Central City. Visit the historic Central City Opera House, Hidee Gold Mine, and the Teller House in Central City. Historic Idaho Springs with its famous hot mineral springs pool and geothermal baths and caves is only 8 miles away. Enjoy white water rafting on Clear Creek in the summer and ski at nearby ski resorts in the winter... The ski resorts are 25-30 miles away. The cottage has two private bedrooms, a dining room, a living room, and a kitchen. An old wood-burning stove, antique furniture, and decor will take you back to the beginning of the last century. The cottage (it was built in or before 1864) is a historic property. There is an old photo with the house on it dated 1864 that is kept in Denver Public Library Archives. The cottage is situated on a quiet street and offers a beautiful mountain/hill view. Convenient location allows easy access ( just a short walk) to the main street, casinos, Opera House, antique shops, restaurants, museums, and Visitor Center if you don't mind walking up and downhill. Enjoy crisp mountain air, beautiful views, or a glass of wine on the patio and numerous local attractions. We always provide directions, access instructions, a list of local attractions and a Welcome Letter. This is a historic property built in or before 1864 here in historic Central City with narrow streets going up and downhill. There are a lot of historic buildings around with beautiful facades, storefronts, and historic significance. Central City is famous for historic Opera House with summer opera festivals, century-old casinos, old mines (some have guided tours), some museums (Gilpin County historic museum, Thomas House Museum), antique shops and 3 old cemeteries with unique sculptures and ironwork. Our street is also unique: there are some interesting houses with unique architecture. The street continues to a gulch with a trail if you would like to take a walk and admire the views and wildflowers in the summer. Please park by the entrance to the house by the stairs on the right hand side of the stairs as you face the house from E 3rd High St. Please don't use an antique wood stove: it is for decorative purposes only. We have a new beautiful gas stove in the living room: the thermostat is on the wall by it. Please be careful with the steps when snows. Shovels and rock salt are in the utility room. The key to the utility room is the same as to the cottage. Please don't turn off the heat lamp in the utility room or the heat in the house during winter. Set up the thermostat on 62F when you leave. A rental agreement is required on all reservations as per the insurance.
