House of three bedrooms each with its own bath, a fully equipped kitchen, dining room, living room, gardens, five terraces, 6.5 by 16.5 ft pool, garage. Cleanings during your stay included! (Mostly) quiet neighbourhood, a side road (some loud motor vehicles passing through), 6 minutes walk to the central square, another minute to the main beach. Internet 50Mb down, 20Mb up (for video conferences etc.) Interweaving indoor and outdoor spaces, the design of this house combines traditional mediterranean architecture with american and tropical buildings. Every room opens to two opposing sides allowing a breeze to go through. Almost all rooms have access to outdoor space, be it a garden, a terrace, or at least a balcony. All downstairs rooms open to outdoor spaces on both sides. House, terraces, gardens, and pool are your's alone in their entirety. The first hallway from the street and the stairs leading to the bungalow is shared with the bungalow guests, if there are any. We live right next door and we happily recommend the most beautiful beaches, our favorite restaurants and we can also advise activities to make your stay a unique experience (e.g. boat trips, surf lessons, Spanish classes, etc.) The area Sited in a calmer residential area off the main road yet no more than a (beautiful) 6 minutes stroll to the village center and another one or two minutes from there to the central beach. We’re on street with some US citizens and some Mexicans around. Down the street is a coffee on one end, an organic food store, yoga and pilates studios on the other. Sayulita was an official bearer of the title “Pueblo Mágico” (Magic Village) when the title was still around—not a resort but a lively Mexican village, a place offering both central beaches and beautiful hidden ones, forests and hills to hike as well as a humming town centre full of surfers, music, residents from all over the place. The central square is 450 meters (less than .3 miles), the central beach 600 meters (less than .4 miles) away. However, the village offers scooter and golfs cart rentals as well as taxis. Busses take you to more distant locations such as the airport or the villages in the vicinity, as well as to Puerto Vallarta. They also take you to overland bus stations. QUIET USE ONLY — PLEASE NOTE ! The house is sited in a usually quiet residential area, and we live in another house on the premise ourselves. Please refrain from loud partying at all times, and respect sleeping hours after 10 o’clock in the evening. Please understand that even shouting and very loud talking by the pool or on the terraces may make it hard for all around to sleep. That said, please be aware that while the neighbourhood itself is quiet, Sayulita streets can be loud, and our street is no exception. We are far enough from the party locations, but still within Sayulita. Very loud motor vehicles are much in favour amongst both Mexican and ex-pat locals, and some of them are loud enough to be heard on the terraces of Casa Serenidad. Their noise isn't constant, in fact there are quiet hours (or, well, half hours), and it usually quiets down around midnight, but If you seek perfect quiet with little more than birds to hear, I recommend you look in the outskirts (north side or farther away from the centre). ——— Amenities (in addition to those on the airbnb list): — beach towels — coffee makers, both french presses and proper moka pots (Italian stovetop) — dish washer — USB power outlets, two on each night stand and more. Just ask. Wifi Strong and reliable internet access, with some 50 Mbps downstream, 25 Mbps upstream on average (see test results in image section). Even on power outage, access persists for about an hour due to no-break power supply for router and LAN. Cleaning Service We offer free of charge cleaning about every second day at an hour of your convenience (roughly between 10am and 3pm). (On rare occasions, this may not be possible due to sickness or some other severe cause—we’re not a hotel with a big staff). This is not mandatory. If you prefer us not coming in, we will provide a cleaning kit, new towels and bed sheets etc. from the outside. There is one exception: To water the plants on the upper terraces and rear gardens, our gardener will have to come through once a day. He will however never come unannounced. Garage Doors lock, fits cars up to 16.4 ft long, 9.8 wide, and 6,5 high (or a little bit more). Water For drinkable water, we have a filtered water tap (dedicated faucet) in the kitchen, ice cubes in the fridge are equally filtered (thw fridge has its own water filter). Beds — Duvets instead of blankets (and really there hasn’t been anyone yet who didn’t prefer those over a woolen blanket with a sheet). Choose between a king size single duvet for two or two individual duvets each. — We can split one of the three double beds into two single beds if you prefer that. Just let us know. Privacy Casa Serenidad shares a property with the smaller Casita Serenidad, a bungalow for two. Apart from the street entrance, the two houses share no space at all. However, the small bungalow garden is facing the main garden. Soon, the green wall cutting the view will grow even denser, but for now, one can peer through the bushes. The premise is half of a gated property of four houses, the third of which is Casita Los Grillos, and the fourth is where we live ourselves. Needless to say we will never enter uninvitedly unless in cases of emergency. Kids Children are most welcome. We provide two high chairs and two pack’n’play beds, also some beach toys. If you have any special needs beyond that, feel free to ask. (Mind that stairs and pool are unsecured as of now—securing the pool all around would be a mayor alteration and hindersome to most usual pool activities, and as most parents don’t see a need for it, we decided we would leave it as is.) Power Sometimes in summertime (and of late, if rarely, also in winter), village- or part-village wide power outages happen. The rarely last very long and seldom happen over night but they do happen. Sometimes they are related to hurricanes, sometimes not. They can be a nuisance particularly at sleeping hours when it is very warm and both air conditioning and fans seize to work. If it happens, it usually helps a bit that each bedroom has windows on opposing sides, wich so open provides some air flow. Not an option during hurricanes though. We provide a sheet explaining what (else) to do in case of an outage (and/or hurricane). We also provide a no break technology to keep the internet running for some time in the case of shorter outages. Please understand that we are (so far) unable to help with emergency power generators as they are quite expensive and would necessitate higher rents. Pool Salted water, not heated and in shadow most of the time, so in winter, it can be a bit cold. Insects The house is surrounded by gardens, smaller and larger ones, and sited in tropical jungle, not in a city. If we don’t either pave or poison everything, sometimes some critters come in (ants mainly, also other insects and beetles, but they come from forest and garden, not from garbage and indoor nests, and as garden insects, they are harmless albeit apalling to some), particularly during rain season (summer). We do however provide two types of anti-insect spray, cinnamon and chemical, and if you are bothered by ants, let us know, we can additionally set up traps. Check-In can in many cases be earlier than 4pm. When previous guests leave the same day as you check in, we may need the time to fully clean the house. In any case you can drop off your luggage ahead of check-in time. Yoga We offer private yoga classes on our rooftop with Diane from Wanderlust/Sayulita, a yoga alliance certified yoga instructor. She teaches vinyasa flow, power yoga, yin & restorative and can adapt to suit all levels, and she can provide mats and blocks. If you think you might be interested let us know. We’ll provide references if you like, and either put you in contact or schedule classes for you.
