The space Welcome to your forest retreat at the Dream House in the Gunks — a spacious, multi-level villa designed to bring people together while still offering plenty of space to relax and recharge. Whether you're planning a yoga or wellness retreat, a family gathering, a creative residency, or simply a deep escape into nature, this thoughtfully curated home offers the perfect setting for meaningful experiences. The villa sits quietly on the Shawangunk Ridge, surrounded by trees, birdsong, and the natural rhythms of the forest. From the outside, it looks like a peaceful mountain house. Step inside, and you'll discover a one-of-a-kind layout that feels more like several homes in one, with layered levels, private nooks, and open communal spaces. It’s a home that naturally supports both connection and solitude. Main Living Level — Light, Air, Connection As you walk through the main entrance, you’re greeted by a vaulted-ceiling living room filled with sunlight from large skylights above. Natural wood beams frame the space and give it warmth and character. To your right is a cozy reading nook with a loveseat, armchair, and small table — the perfect spot for quiet morning coffee or conversation. On your left is the open-concept kitchen with a bar and leather stools, inviting guests to gather while meals are being prepared. The kitchen is fully equipped and features a high-quality coffee and tea station that reflects our commitment to thoughtful hospitality. Just past the kitchen is a massive handmade wood dining table that easily seats 8–10 guests. It’s perfect for group meals, creative projects, or evening game nights. A wood-burning stove adds a touch of rustic coziness, and a comfortable sofa lounge nearby is great for relaxing with music or a book. We’ve provided a Bluetooth sound system so you can enjoy your favorite playlists during your stay. From the living room, sliding doors lead out to a private deck with forest views. This secluded outdoor nook is ideal for morning journaling, quiet reflection, or stargazing at night. Main Level Bedrooms — Quiet Comfort This floor includes two bedrooms located down a short hallway. One has two queen beds and modern accent lighting. The other has a queen bed plus a premium American Leather sleeper sofa — a surprisingly comfortable option for extra guests. Both rooms are equipped with mini-splits for heating and cooling, and baseboard heat for cozy nights. A full bathroom with shower and a laundry room with washer and dryer are also located on this floor. The Master Bedroom — A Private Sanctuary Just off the main level, a private staircase leads to the secluded master bedroom, which feels like its own mini apartment. This serene space features a queen bed, vaulted ceilings, and wraparound windows with tree-top views. There's also a comfy futon, perfect for kids or additional guests. The ensuite bathroom includes a shower, and the room opens onto a private balcony with Adirondack chairs and a beautiful outdoor jacuzzi hot tub enclosed in weathered natural wood. It’s a peaceful haven for sunset soaks or early-morning stillness. Sun Lounge Level — Light, Lounging, and Movement One flight down from the dining area brings you to the Sun Lounge, a glass-walled space that feels like a separate retreat apartment. Surrounded on three sides by sliding doors and porch windows, it’s airy, bright, and inviting. The centerpiece of this level is a Moroccan-inspired tea room with a huge wraparound sofa that seats 8+ — perfect for group chats, late-night storytelling, or afternoon naps. This level also includes a kitchenette, a bar counter, and a small workout corner with yoga mats and free weights. In the back, a futon sleeping area adds flexibility for extra guests. A propane fireplace warms the space, and there's a second washer/dryer set here as well. Whether you're hosting a wellness session, relaxing with a book, or creating something new, this space supports it. Theater & Creative Level — Movies, Games, and Meaningful Time Together Continue downstairs and you’ll find the villa’s dedicated home theater — complete with a massive 110" projector screen, high-definition projector, Apple TV, Bluetooth speakers, and two deep couches that can convert into full-size beds. This level features gorgeous natural wood floors, radiant heat, and a dramatic rock wall that brings the outside in. It’s a cozy and inspiring place to gather for movie nights, presentations, or workshops. At one end of the theater room is a handmade table and benches crafted by a Woodstock artisan. It’s a perfect game nook or work table, and it sits next to shelves full of books and board games. A private queen bedroom with a love seat is tucked to the side — ideal for those who want a bit more privacy while still being part of the group. A small bathroom with shower is also located on this level. The Yoga Room — Sacred and Inspiring At the far end of the theater hallway is one of the most special parts of the house: the dedicated yoga and meditation room. Built with peace and movement in mind, this room features natural rock walls, Thai roll-out mats, square sitting cushions, a handmade altar, a central Japanese straw mat, and a projector for casting meditations or classes. The lighting is soft and adjustable, and the space includes a Bluetooth sound system and wall-mounted HVAC for comfort. Whether you’re here for breathwork, mindfulness, or group ceremony, this room is a powerful container for presence. Sleeping Arrangements The house includes four private sleeping areas and several flexible ones, comfortably accommodating up to 12 guests. All queen beds are premium Casper or Nectar brand with high-end linens and cozy bedding. Extra futons and sofa beds provide options for groups or retreats. You can also find an online meditation practices or/and breathing techniques and you can do it on your own. You can do it. Start changing your life. Feel the difference all those practices can make in your life. Take this experience with you to the real world and excel in the mastery of living. A note about wifi: We are located away from hectic life and away from civilization. It means great star gazing, fresh air and great NATURE surroundings. It is also important to consider that fact that you will most probably NOT have your cell service. We do have a strong and fast wifi and you would be able to use wifi calling. HOWEVER, please do not hold us liable if wifi is interrupted by an outage caused by our internet provider. It does not happen often but it does happen. Note about blinds Please be advised that there are no window blinds in the master bedroom. It does not create any privacy issue since master bedroom is on the second floor but if you are sensitive to light you might want to choose to sleep in other bedrooms that do have blinds Water quality note: We live in the Gunks and water is well known to be hard in our region. It is full of minerals including sulfur, so it is normal to feel some smell at times. I do have water treatment systems installed. First stage is a large particle water filter which I usually change every 2-3 weeks. Second stage is a Clack water with filter medium that handles hard water. The second stage was serviced in fall 2019 by professional water treatment service. Additionally kitchen sinks are equipped with faucet filters (changed monthly) making the water suitable for drinking.
