Duddings nestles in 9 acres of the beautiful Avill Valley in Exmoor National Park. It was a farm until 1916 and was transformed into a holiday cottage complex in the 1980s. Updated over the years, Duddings offers comfortable accommodation for up to 77 people across 12 cottages. On-site amenities include a shared indoor pool, hot tub, tennis court and games room. With medieval Dunster & the coast close by and miles of countryside to explore, Duddings is a superb base for your holiday. The space Withycombe is an "upside down" cottage that is situated in the The South Barn, a large stone building that used to house several cow stalls, a calves house & a bull's house - part of the old Duddings Farm. There are 2 entrances to Withycombe, one from the main courtyard & the other from the back of The South Barn. Entering from the courtyard, you go up several stone steps to get to the front door. Straight ahead of you is a corridor leading to the double bedroom. On your right is another corridor that leads to the two twin bedrooms, bathroom with shower & shower room. At the end of this corridor is the back door. From here a staircase leads up to the open plan lounge/kitchen/diner which is light & airy. Good views. A hinged stairgate is fitted at the top of the stairs to keep any toddlers safe Guest access Duddings Country Cottages has a wealth of on-site facilities to keep you entertained all year round no matter the weather! Enjoy the indoor heated pool and spa bath, which has changing and shower facilities. The pool and Spa bath are heated via a wood chip biomass boiler. The games room with pool table, table tennis table, table football also has a 3-seater sofa and 2 armchairs and is a great place to relax, or watch the kids playing! On-site are the owners Shetland ponies, Zag, Dixie. Ziggy, Zippy and Zebedee who can usually be found grazing in the pony fields. Kids will love the Gate Lodge Play Centre, a 2-story playhouse with swings, a slide, a fireman’s pole and assault course to clamber over. Great fun for smaller children, with a table and bench nearby so that the adults can stay close by and watch. Also on-site is a hard tennis court, operating on a ‘turn up and play’ system, with racquets and balls available to borrow. There is also a large Trampoline with protective barrier netting, and a football net situated in the ‘play paddock’ where guests can play cricket or badminton, fly kites etc. Please keep dogs on a lead in this area. In addition, there are 9 acres of land to explore, with picnic areas and a river where you may spot a brown trout (if the heron hasn’t got them all!). Other things to note We make a small charge for pets to cover additional cleaning. Please ensure that your pet is booked in as part of your party.
