Craig House: Walk to Indiana University

The Craig House's closeness to Indiana University, IU Health Hospital, and Meadowood Retirement Community and its accessibility features mean that no one needs to miss out on important events. A well-appointed ranch, it accommodates up to six Guests, including any that rely on a walker or wheelchair. Vintage furniture, artwork, and a quiet neighborhood create a comfortable retreat. It has high speed internet, a washer/dryer, a private driveway. Its proximity to everything makes it an ideal spot! The space Walk to IU sports events and save parking fees. Private driveway parks up to 4 vehicles. ADA compliant ramp from the driveway to the front deck. No-step entry. Living room is accessible by ramp or step. Main bedroom is wheelchair accessible with a 22" high queen bed. Blue bedroom is walker accessible with a 24" high queen bed. Paneled bedroom is walker accessible with a 23" high full bed. Bathroom is fully wheelchair accessible. Dining room seats six. Kitchen is well-equipped and features a complete laundry. Sunroom has three walls of louvered glass windows and vintage rattan furniture. Outdoor seating on the front deck. Guest access Indiana University athletic facilities are a 15-minute walk or 5-minute drive. Indiana University sororities and fraternities on David Baker Avenue are a 10-minute walk or a 3-minute drive. The Indiana University Auditorium and Memorial Union are a 35-minute walk or a 10-minute drive. The IU Health Hospital Bloomington is a 25-minute walk or a 4-minute drive. Meadowood Retirement Community is a 10-minute walk through the Griffy Lake Nature Preserve or a 3-minute drive. Other things to note At the end of the lane, Guests can enter the Griffy Lake Nature Preserve and meet up with the new 4.5 mile South Shore Loop Trail. Head east to arrive at the Griffy Lake Accessible Fishing Pier on the causeway. Head west and follow the trail cross the top of the Griffy Lake dam. Hosts Lauren and Peter Cowan bought the house from Wayne Craig, their neighbor and longtime resident of this close-knit neighborhood. Friendly and courtly, Wayne always had time to chat, especially when walking his dog. Wayne was a career staff member at Indiana University. In 1994 he was awarded the Thomas Hart Benton Mural Medallion for distinguished service and retired three years later as Director of University Ceremonies. As the owners of Agewise Design LLC, Lauren and Peter recognized the need for accessible short-term housing in Bloomington. They created the Craig House as a tribute to Wayne.
