The Roaring Forties

Relax at this unique and tranquil getaway. Set in a beautiful location this modest gem is close to Currie; conveniently 10 minutes drive from the airport and just five to the Main Street, 'The Roaring Forties' (formerly Shannon Coastal Cottage) has views of the Southern Ocean, Currie Harbour and Lighthouse. The sounds of the ocean waves and winds are always present and the skies are ever-changing making this a special place from which to explore the wonders and beauty of magical King Island. The space The cottage has a central lounge/dining room which includes a gas heater, a kitchen with small laundry, three bedrooms: the main bedroom has a queen bed, the second bedroom a double, and the third a queen and two singles. There is one bathroom with a shower, vanity and corner spa bath. The toilet is separate (small space). Guest access The entire cottage is for guest use. Other things to note The cottage was built in the 1980s and has not been renovated substantially since. It is an Australian coastal holiday home of that time. It has some little quirks that appreciate gentleness.Its situation on the West coast of King Island means it experiences the wild weather conditions which are part of this unique island's location.
