Description

Absolute relaxation and tranquility in a small house with a large terrace and stunning views. Enjoy the Cretan landscape in the ample light, but also the starry sky with the nocturnal sounds of the local fauna. You travel back in time to this forgotten tiny village with the ancient fountain whose construction is lost in the era of the Ottomans and the Venetians. The wonderful beaches of Paleochora are 12-16 km away (20-30 minutes drive). The space The house is about 70sqm and consists of a 50sqm stone house built a century ago. There's a 100-year-old Cretan living room, a 60-year-old bedroom with a closet and a double bed, and two single beds. The room leads to the 14sqm kitchen which leads to the covered terrace with the wooden pergola. There is also a direct exit to the same terrace from the room. The rest of the 40sqm terrace is uncovered and during the day it is offered for sunbathing while at night for stargazing. The 6sqm toilet is outside, next to the kitchen. There's a shower with hot water. Guest access The entrance to the house is located 50 meters from the carriage road and there are a few steps. There is also a second exit through the staircase that connects the private terrace with the common courtyard of the ground floor. Other things to note Kitiros is a neighborhood with 8-9 houses and there is neither a coffee shop nor a grocery store. In the village of Voutas, 2km away, there are two cafes with simple but delicious food. For your shopping and laundry you will have to go to Paleochora 14 km (25 minutes by car) where you will find everything and of course a Pharmacy. There's a health center in Kandanos. Unless you're a skilled mountaineer, a car is essential. You can drive from Chania airport in 1 hour and 45 minutes via Topolia-Stroveles, but in the gorge you can encounter heavy traffic during the summer months, while after Stroveles the road is deserted. You'll only meet goats and partridges. I recommend that you come from the road of mild traffic to Kandanos and Paleochora so that you can take a swim in the sea and also get your supplies. Plan to come in daylight. The last kilometer of the route, whether you come from Topolia-Stroveles or from Kandanos-Paleochora, is the road Vouta to Kitiro. It's a narrow road with sharp turns. Before you make a reservation request, please contact me. I need to know your exact time of arrival so I can plan your reception as I will have to come from Chania. During the hot months of July and August I can welcome you either early in the morning 8:30-9:30 or very late in the afternoon 5:30-6:30 pm. If these hours don't suit you, you can pick up the key from my house in Chania. Since 2025, the Greek Government has imposed an environmental fee of 8 euros per night in summer, 2 euros in winter. It is collected upon your arrival. There is no air conditioning, but in the summer you can cool off with two floor fans. For winter accommodation I can provide you with an electric heater and you are charged for the electricity consumption. Registration details 00002341040
