Tropical & cozy apartment in historic Barrio Otoya

Newly refurbished little gem centrally located in quaint street in Barrio Otoya. Enjoy a colorful and luminous space a few blocks from Escalante, downtown San Jose, historic Barrio Amón and Aranjuez. Close to museums, cafes, galleries, smalls shops, restaurants, nightlife and parks. Fully equiped kitchen, beautiful bathroom, tiny covered patio, bedroom with queen bed and living room with queen sofa bed. Safe area for solo female travelers or anyone! Happy to offer LATE CHECK-OUT at 5pm. The space The apartment is located in a house from 1940's in a small dead-end street in the historic neighborhood of Barrio Otoya. As you enter on the first floor, there is an open space kitchen area with dining table and bar, next room is a living room with sofa bed, smart TV and working area next to a luminous covered patio. A beautiful blue bathroom with delicious hot shower and an open closet are also located on the first floor. Some narrow and steep stairs will lead you to the wood floor bedroom where you have a nice queen bed with an orthopedic mattress, big windows and another small desk next to the window. It was fully renovated in 2023 including all water pipes, electricity, windows etc. A lot of care was put into details, flooring, quality of material and amenities. Wall fans in the bedroom and living room. Guest access The guests have full and exclusive access to the space. This is not a shared apartment. Other things to note There are steep stairs towards the bedroom with an open railing. Not recommended for anyone with mobility issues or that might feel uncomfortable with steep and narrow stairs. Closet is downstairs for travelers' comfort (No need to bring luggage upstairs!!) Toddlers / small kids are welcomed if the parents feel comfortable with the stairs situation described above. For stays longer than 1 week we can provide weekly cleaning and changing of sheets/towels for $30 per week (or every two weeks). In case our guests want this service it would have to be organised a few days in advance, paid before hand through the airbnb app and the guest needs to be present during the service (3-4 hours). The train runs nearby in the morning and late afternoon, honking at the crossroads. If you are particularly sensitive to city noise this is not your place. If you are flexible and tolerant and do not expect the city to be silent all around, then you might find our little place is totally worth despite this minor inconvenience. Many neighbors in the vicinity -including myself- have come to adopt this characteristic sound as part of our little dead-end street soundscape, and part of what implies living in such a centric place.
