Description
Comfortable cottage, close to the lake, gorges and shops For your information, to my great regret, following a change of listing on the Airbnb site, all my comments (very positive! 5/5 rating each time) have unfortunately disappeared. 4 large bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, separate toilet, large functional kitchen, large friendly living room, very large welcoming and shaded terrace, quiet, natural environment on the edge of the forest and the lake The space The principle of its construction By choosing wood construction, we wanted to limit the ecological impact of the project, but we didn't know how much yet! The wooden frame, the wood wool insulation, and everything that characterizes this house, have, in the end, revealed many advantages. The air and atmosphere are lighter, healthier, the house "breathes". You sleep better there than in a concrete construction with a metal frame. It is also said that fewer waves circulate there. In addition, if the openings are well managed, this house is also bioclimatic: the fresh air of the night keeps the house cool all day in August, and in winter a small wood-burning stove in the living room heats the 160 m2 in less than an hour! You will also notice the absence of air conditioning and heating systems, apart from towel dryers. A success beyond our expectations Guest access The entire home is yours to enjoy Other things to note Visit the surrounding villages: Les Salles-sur-Verdon A village whose history is intimately linked to Lake Sainte Croix, since its original location is now under the waters of the lake. The village was destroyed and its main monuments dismantled, then reassembled on the current site. A careful visit to the village will allow you to read its history, scattered on panels along the streets. There is also a supermarket "Huit à Huit", a bakery, an exceptional butcher shop, "Chez Bondil" which in addition to having good meat, also prepares many traditional dishes to take away. Aiguines Village of wood turners – not to be missed!!! In the past, the men of the village roamed the mountain in search of boxwood roots to turn them into a ball. Then the women nailed flat spiral nails to finish what then became a petanque ball. It was from this craft that the tradition of woodturning in the region was born. It is said that the women's hammer could be heard throughout the valley. The tradition continues in Aiguines thanks to the Escoulen turning school, the museum of wood turners, but also and especially thanks to the presence of active turning artisans, who will be delighted to introduce you to their profession-passion, we recommend you to see Olivier and Carine at the Atelier du Barda Moustiers Sainte-Marie Capital of ceramics, ranked among the "Most Beautiful Villages in France", it is a village clinging to the cliff, which a river crosses in waterfalls. Must see! But also Baudinard sur Verdon, with its perched chapel that offers exceptional views of the lake, Sainte Croix du Verdon, Bauduen, Vérignon and its forest of large oaks, Ampus and Tourtour perched villages, etc. If these visits are not your cup of tea, many outdoor activities are available in the area: - Water activities: pedal boat, catamaran, windsurfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, etc. There are many rental companies all around the lake. - Hiking: on foot, by mountain bike, the Verdon Natural Park offers breathtaking views! Don't hesitate to ask us for advice for your rides – at eBike Moustiers, Noël will be able to rent you bikes, including electric mountain bikes, but he will also be able to repair or adjust yours! You can also try Moustiers Bike - Horseback riding: Verdon Equitation - Georges STEPIEN Or, Les Chevaux du Verdon - In the air: Paragliding baptisms or. Fly over the gorges and lake in a hot air balloon or ultralight plane - Tree climbing in Vérignon (12 km) or Gréoux Les Bains (48 km) - Spa L'Ermitage – (right across!) Spa, sauna, hammam, body treatments, beauty treatments, massages - Museum of Prehistory in Quinson – (41 km – 45 minutes) - A fun and very well documented museum – an experience that will delight young and old!
