Cozy apartment located in a safe area of Rio
Description
Privileged location with excellent connectivity in an authentic, safe and trendy neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. Reliable and super fast internet, full furnished and well-equipped, eccentric and artistic interior. Excellent place for developing creative and concentrated work. Everything close. Nice walking under big trees. GREEN! The Metro is 3 blocks away and you have a taxi point downstairs the apartment, bus lines everywhere and public bikes one block away. The space It's a 50's apt. Original wood floor, wide walls, high roof, nice and functional spaces, modern, eccentric and artistic decoration, big cabinets and closet. No sound from the street. Second interior floor in a building of 4 floors. Very friendly concierges. You will experience the authentic Rio life of a truly Brazilian resident. Those are the great things about the apartment. The not so good thing is that you won't get a great view from the windows, since it is an interior apartment. This being said, if your goal is to enjoy Rio from the living room, this is not the place for you. But, if you expect to venture yourself in a charming, friendly and real carioca atmosphere just outside the door, then this spot is perfect. You will enjoy the outside life and go back to a very comforting, good bive and well equiped place. Guest access Supermarket, groceries, pharmacy, the best pizza and the best açai, all kinds of commerce, everything is close, walking distance. The area is safe, with local people, and a familiar and residencial atmosphere. São Salvador square is also a friendly meeting point during the evening, full of restaurants and bars. You can join it or rest quietly at the apartment, since it is retired enough to get no sound from the street. Other things to note SIGHTSEEING If this is your first time in Rio, don’t miss Christ the Redeemer Statue at the Corcovado mountain. Tickets to go up there can be bought online or three blocks away my house -transportation included-, at Largo do Machado. I recommend you go to Corcovado early in the morning of a clear day to avoid the tourist buses and for the best light. Another must-do attraction is the Sugar Loaf. The most amazing views from here are at sunset, so make sure that you arrive at the base at least an hour before. You can also hike -very easy- up to the top of Morro da Urca, for free. Apart from these two obvious landmarks, I highly recommend a visit to Forte do Leme, the ticket for the entrance is very cheap, the walk up is beatiful and easy, and the view from there will make you feel very happy. Other things I love doing: Biking around Flamengo Park (Aterro do Flamengo); you can use the orange ones from Itaú Bank (get their app on your phone; BikeRio). Go to Arpoador rock (next Ipanema beach) to see a spectacular sunset on the ocean. Run along the "orla" (boardwalk) in Flamengo, Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon. For a cloudy day, I most warmly recommend to visit the Jardim Botânico after you have brunch at Parque Lage. The Jardim Botânico also has a great next-door café called La Bicyclette, to the left of the main entrance; just ask around. The bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa is another alternative for a non-beach day; visit Parque das Ruinas for a good view of the city; eat at the restaurant Aprazível (excellent but expensive), have a drink at the boutique Hotel Santa Teresa (you'll love it) while you listen to some jazz on Sundays; or mix up with the locals at the classic Bar do Mineiro for a feijoada. For a rainy day, head Downtown to visit the beautiful Real Gabinete Português de Leitura library, the astonishing Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, the National Library, the new Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR), the bright new Port Area, including the Museu do Amanhã, the gorgeous Teatro Municipal and the Monasterio São Bento. For a wild Friday night, you must go to Lapa, just around the arches, where the whole world gathers for a night of samba music, dancing...and pickpocketing (be careful with phones, cameras and wallets). Enjoy your stay!
