Description

[Please note, this property has a shower only, there is no bathtub]. Courtesy of a recent renovation, Peewit offers a romantic, well-designed bolthole in the heart of the pretty village of Belford just three miles from Northumberland’s famous coast. The space Cute and colourful, this cottage is ideal for exploring the county’s highlights Named after a local sea bird and filled with the colours of the coast, Peewit Cottage makes a wonderful coastal base for couples, or a small family. Positioned in the heart of this former coaching village, it lies very close to this area’s Heritage Coast where miles of sandy beaches can be enjoyed all year round – so much so that the air will have a faint salty scent. You’re also merely a mile from the A1, making it easy peasy to explore all of Northumberland, the Scottish Borders, or even Edinburgh from here. The cottage dates to around 1830, and a small entrance porch transports you from the vintage stone exterior into a cosy sitting room complete with a log burner for toasty afternoons warming by the fire, chatting and reading books. There's a dining table and chairs to one side, otherwise continue through and you’ll find a small but well-equipped kitchen decorated with pretty blue tiles. To the front, a spacious master bedroom contains a king-sized bed and a large wardrobe, while the second bedroom with twin beds sits to the rear. There's also a modern family bathroom with heated towel rail and walk-in shower. Green and blue feature walls are guaranteed to catch your eye, along with lovely deep windowsills complete with striking wooden shutters, and a characterful wooden beam turned mantelpiece. Throughout, the property is contemporary, comfortable and well appointed with quality amenities – including a Smart TV offering Netflix and Freeview channels, as well as an Alexa with Spotify account. At Peewit Cottage’s rear, a sunroom/utility area runs the length of the cottage and is lovely for reading, podcast-listening or snoozing whenever rays beam down. Just beyond, up some steps, begins the rear garden. Lent privacy by handsome stone walls, this splits into sections including a pretty, colourful shrubbery, and two elevated outdoor decked areas, equipped with furniture for both dining and relaxation. You’re only a two-minute stroll into old Belford where you’ll find several good local pubs including the historic Blue Bell Inn which serves up tasty pub food. There is also a handful of independent shops, a fish and chip takeaway, and a Co-op supermarket. We’d recommend you stock up on local goodies at the superb Sunnyhills Farm Shop, or go for delicious dinners at The Barn at Beal nearby that has fine views and access to Holy Island, which is easily visited - but do check the tide times! For days out-and-about, Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, the bird-rich Farne Islands, and no end of deserted, golden-sand beaches are but a short drive away. Guest access GROUND FLOOR Small entrance porch leading into the sitting room with a three-seater sofa and large armchair, Smart TV (with Netflix account), Alexa with Spotify, and log burner. Small dining area with table and seating for four guests. One step up leads into the well-equipped kitchen with 4-ring induction hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge, slimline dishwasher, Nespresso machine. There is a freezer and washing machine in the utility/sun room to the rear of the property. Bedroom one with king size bed, side tables, chest of drawers, and one large built-in wardrobe. Two steps up to bedroom two and the family shower room. Bedroom two with 3' twin beds, side table and wardrobe. Family shower room with walk-in shower, heated towel rail, basin and WC. Important - Please note the shower opening is quite narrow and may not be suitable for all guests - please contact us if you have any concerns. This has in-built chaise seating area but it is important to note this room is not heated so may only be suitable for warmer/summer days.
