The space One hour from LIR Int'l Airport, centrally located to Miravalles Volcano with hot springs, canopy tour, hiking, and horseback riding. The Cacao Farm Tour (chocolate) is very popular with our guests. A scenic 1-hr drive to the rain forest gets you to this 4 hour tour that includes all the chocolate you can eat plus lunch ($60/person). The cacao nibs and dark chocolate bars are a favorite gift to take home. Day tours to Palo Verde National Park 1-hr drive, Rio Celeste 2-hr drive, Pacific Beaches 1-hr drive, Rincon de la Vieja National Park 1-hr drive, Canopy Tour, Hot Springs 1/2-hr drive, and Barra Honda Nat'l Park (Limestone Caverns..2-3 hr drive). This Hobbit Cob Cottage was hand built mixing clay, sand, straw, and horse manure; by foot into a doughy mixture, then set in layers upon layers until the desired height was achieved. The roof, supported by post and beams, was already in place so the walls could be constructed without being affected by the weather. With this type of design, your imagination is the only limitation. All of the materials used were from our farm except the sand. It took two years to complete...a labor of love that you will appreciate. Getting here by car is easy on totally paved highway. Many guests enjoy just relaxing on the covered patio enjoying the view of the forest and valley below. Miravalles Jorge Manuel Dengo National Park, previously known as Miravalles Protected Zone, is a national park and nature reserve just minutes away. The park forms part of the Arenal Tilaran Conservation Area and contains the Miravalles Volcano, which is still active although the last recorded eruption was only of steam vents in 1946. It is also the site of a geothermal energy plant which uses the large underground heated reservoir to provide electricity. On June 5, 2019, the Miravalles Jorge Manuel Dengo National Park was declared as the twenty-ninth national park of Costa Rica. Guest access Hiking around the trails on this 27-Ac farm you will see a variety of plant and animal life as well as some giant trees. We have three medium-sized people-friendly dogs. Nearby are hot springs, horseback riding, canopy tour, good restaurants, Rincon de la Vieja and Palo Verde Nat'l Parks....etc. Other things to note Additionally available: - Spirulina produced in Costa Rica - Delicious Hot Chili Sauce - Certified Organic Cacao Nibs, and Dark Chocolate WiFi - can stream videos Breakfast options: - Granola - Pancakes - Coffee - Fresh Eggs (any style you like), - Tortillas - Beans - Hash Brown Potatoes or Yucca - Fresh fruit when available (mangos, papaya, pineapple, banana, watermelon, etc.).
