Description

Located at the end of a quiet county road, our newly renovated mountaintop retreat - 3 cabins rented together - is the perfect place to relax & soak in the natural beauty of Vermont. Nestled on 70 private acres of forest, rolling meadows, and open lawn with gorgeous views, Pumpkin Rim Retreat sleeps 10 guests in 3 separate cabins with a well-equipped kitchen, 3 bathrooms, 2 living spaces, private spring-fed swimming pond with dock, fire pit, lawn games, and indoor/outdoor dining options. The space This seasonal property is ideal for families looking for a comfortable place to relax and connect in the fresh mountain air, for writers and artists looking for a quiet place to work, or runners, bikers, walkers, and hikers looking for a cozy homebase to adventure from. The main cabin includes the kitchen, dining room and living space, full bathroom with hot shower, and a sleeping loft with one king and two twin beds. The west cabin sleeps 4 people with one queen and two twin beds, a cozy sitting area, private 1/2 bath with cold-water sink, and a private deck. The East Cabin (also known as Ellen's Cabin - named after Grandma Ellen who built and loved this cabin) sleeps 2 in a comfortable queen bed and a private 1/2 bath with cold-water sink. Large screened windows and ceiling fans keep the cabins cool in the summer, while the southern exposure and propane heating units keep the cabins warm and cozy in the spring and fall. Guest access The entire Pumpkin Rim Retreat property - three cabins plus seventy acres and swimming pond - are exclusively available to Airbnb guests. Cabins are rented all together as a single unit. No shared spaces. Other things to note • Directions: This is an important one! PLEASE FOLLOW OUR DIRECTIONS! There are two ways to access Pumpkin Rim Retreat – G Maps will try to send you up Cram Hill Road, which looks shorter, but will almost certainly leave you with at least one flat tire, possibly four. It’s not worth it! You’ve been warned :) • Bouvant Road: Pumpkin Rim Retreat is located at the end of a class four road, (Bouvant Road) which means it is narrow, windy, sometimes steep, and privately maintained. While all-wheel drive is recommended but not required, slow, careful and respectful driving IS required. As there is only one other house on Bouvant Road, traffic is very limited, but please make use of the pull-off points if you meet a car – cars coming down the hill should yield to those coming up. The first 100 feet is a steep uphill followed by a sharp turn to the right. PLEASE HONK YOUR HORN AS YOU APPROACH THE SHARP RIGHT-HAND TURN TO ALERT ON-COMING TRAFFIC. • Power: The cabins at Pumpkin Rim retreat are off-grid but have solar power and gas-powered appliances and heating. There is a backup generator in case of overcast weather. You will be able to keep your food cold in the refrigerator, use the oven, take a hot water shower, charge your devices, and stay cozy warm. • Children welcome: Children are most welcome! The cabins at Pumpkin Rim Retreat are well equipped with books, blocks, indoor and outdoor games, puzzles, water toys and kid friendly cutlery. • Accessibility: Please note that Pumpkin Rim Retreat is not handicap accessible. This is a rustic setting with uneven ground, stairs, and a sleeping loft accessed by a ladder. This property may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility. • Wildlife: Please note that Pumpkin Rim Retreat shares this beautiful mountain top with one family of lovely neighbors and wildlife! You may see birds, foxes, deer, and possibly even a black bear! While our animal kingdom friends generally steer clear of humans, please be respectful and keep a safe distance. • Trash, recycling & compost: Respecting our forest friends (mentioned above) means managing and disposing of trash and food properly. A compost bin for food scraps can be found under the sink in the kitchen. Please make sure the lid of the compost bin is tightly closed at all times. Please empty trash, recycling, and compost in the labeled bins beside the power shed and make sure bin lids are closed tightly. • The puzzlery: OMG, we love puzzles! If you also love to puzzle, you have come to the right place. Choose your own puzzle adventure from our curated collection of puzzles. • Events: We do periodically host small private events on the property. Please message us for more information. House rules: • No smoking: Absolutely no smoking inside the cabins • Parties & events: No unauthorized events, parties, or gatherings of any size. • Noise: Quite hours are from 10pm-8am. • Pets: 1-2 well-behaved dogs may be allowed with permission from property owner for an additional fee of $100 per dog per week. Owners must pick up after their dogs.
