Description
The Old Rectory wraps you in timeless comfort of a bygone era, yet has every modern touch. Built in 1886 by Architect John Douglas, sitting above the pretty white church in the meadow below. William Morris Interiors throughout, 2 open-plan kitchens, dining & living rooms with Aga, Range & wood burners. Curated ensuite bedrooms with sumptuous beds, 17m heated pool end Mar-Nov (or in winter for supplement). Breeze house, outdoor bar, BBQ, table tennis & games room. Modest daytime events considered The space This stunning and welcoming Arts and Crafts family home is incredibly thoughtfully curated with its 16 plus 2 guests in mind, from dining to relaxing with playing areas indoors and outside. We are located in the hamlet of Whitewell, on the Shropshire, Cheshire and Welsh borders between Shrewsbury, Chester and Wrexham, and just 10 minutes from Whitchurch railway station. A gated driveway with ample safe parking leads to the front door. The impressive hallway with galleried landing greets you and leads through to the other areas of the house. The main kitchen has a large breakfast area and an informal dining area, ideal for breakfast or light meals as well as a large breakfast bar with bar stools. This space is ideal to chat over nibbles while preparing meals on the Aga or to feed younger guests at. This leads through to the open plan lounge and dining area so has all you need to relax, chat, eat, watch TV and prepare and enjoy meals together in one space. This area of the house flows out through double doors into a gated garden area, overlooking the wider grounds, swimming pool and hot tub. For evening dining or more formal meals there is a grand dining room, seating 16/17 guests, served by an additional well equipped catering kitchen which is also well placed for serving the pool area. This can be used by our guests as a second overflow kitchen with additional fridges and ovens. It can also be taken over by our cook who can prepare and serve meals for you without being in your personal space (we have some excellent recommendations). All 8 bedrooms are different and unique. Each has weighted high end king sized beds (6) and (zip and link) super-king sized beds (2) with sumptuous top of the range mattresses, duvets and pillows. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and the two deluxe bespoke shepherds huts share their own large bathroom in a separate private garden area. After a day of fun in the pool, hot tub, on the huge trampoline, table tennis and garden bar, our guests can retire to their private rooms, dress for dinner and meet downstairs or on the patio for a glass or two of pre-dinner bubbles and then wander through to the dining room to enjoy an evening of being spoiled. Your cook (by arrangement) can prepare a bespoke menu whilst serving you all in style in the elegant dining room or out by the pool if the evening is mild, and a hostess (by arrangement) could keep your glasses topped up. Alternatively, the pool and hot tub area has a heated breeze house with TV and wifi that seats 16 as well as a covered outdoor dining area for 16 guests so you may prefer to dine alfresco in the summer months. The 17m long pool sits within a gated walled garden and is useable all year but only heated mid-March to mid-October unless by prior arrangement (an extra charge is possible to heat the pool out of season). It has a deep end with diving board as well as a shallow end and has a fully automated cover for safety. The hot tub also sits within this area. You can retire to the outdoor breeze house after supper for coffee or a night cap by the open outdoor fire or indoor wood burner, a game or two of pool or cards and a good film in the movie room and maybe a sing-song around the piano (that can also play itself!), whilst the hostess clears and prepares the main dining room ready for breakfast the following morning. The private dining option is optional as we have two well equipped kitchens but is a real treat for everyone at a fraction of the cost of a restaurant. This can be booked as a one-off event or for the duration of your stay on a fully or partially catered basis. In another area of the garden, there are two stretch tented garden bar areas both with mood lighting, table tennis and fire pit. It is the perfect place to spend the afternoons, after a few lengths of the pool or a game of croquet or more energetically table tennis or even more energetically a session of being a child again on the top of the range Acon Air Sport HD trampoline! We work with an excellent team that can be booked at good rates; trusted babysitters, a pool lifeguard if required and a wonderful team of therapists who bring their deluxe treatments and massage therapy to your room by appointment. There really is something for everybody from the pool table to the hot tub to the swimming pool and trampoline and ping pong, fire pits under the stars and the exterior and interior high quality dining areas as well as beautiful walks directly from the front door. We could even provide your own croupier to deal black jack, roulette and poker to create your very own fun casino evening. You are welcome to come and view The Old Rectory if you are in the area, it is a unique and luxuriously comfortable home. We are a super host and pride ourselves on an excellent reputation and high level of customer service. Every effort will be made to ensure that you and your guests have an unforgettable stay. The Old Rectory at Whitewell has been such a happy home to our family for over 20 years and we are now overjoyed to be sharing its magic with a wider audience, just for a few seasonal weeks each year. More info can be found on Holt Accommodation Solutions Ltd. Fazebook Page. Guest access Full access to all areas. Our housekeeper is on site, in the apartment discreetly at the bottom of the drive if required. A note on additional guests: We are listed for up to 16 including children although one or two extra children or adults can be added at an additional charge of £50 per person per night, apart from under twos in a travel cot who are free of charge. The Old Rectory is a lovely large house with many bathrooms and plenty of relaxation areas. The very largest bedrooms can comfortably accommodate extra blow up beds for children or travel cots (we have two). The games room also has two single sized comfortable sofa beds, so this would work well for two older children or teens who were ok with sleeping downstairs. This room also works well for massage/beauty treatments. In summer, we can provide a bell tent if your numbers are slightly too large for the house. With this in mind, 16 guests is the optimal number to comfortably dine at the table, watch TV together in the same room, and enjoy the outdoor dining area, breeze house, or hot tub. Our concern with more than a couple of additional guests is that the overall holiday experience may be compromised, which is something we are keen to avoid—for the enjoyment of all guests and to ensure we continue to maintain and build upon our valued reviews. That said, we are happy to consider requests for additional guests on a case-by-case basis. Other things to note The pool can be heated out of season on request. The additional cost starts at roughly £500 for a weekend and can be as high as £1,500 unless the previous guests have already heated the pool, in which case a lower cost can be offered. Factors such as outside temperature oil cost windchill et cetera all affect the cost of getting the pool up to temperature during the winter months as well as keeping the pool at temperature. This is something we can discuss with you and we do have an idea of cost for each month based on average monthly temperatures. On request we can sometimes host extra guests in the house or up to six in our bell tent however, this is strictly by arrangement and must be prebooked. All extra guests including children over 18 months staying in parents’ rooms or in the bell tent are charged at a rate of £50 per person per night. We request that additional visitors who are not staying at The Old Rectory are named and prebooked by arrangement and only visit the house during daytime hours. This is essential for our insurance cover. There is a fee for day guests. You will have the opportunity to discuss these details prior booking and also finalise numbers prior to arrival. We can provide a selection of affordable private dining and additional housekeeping if required during your stay. Please ask for details. Waivers to be signed and extreme care taken for use of the heated pool, hot tub and trampoline. Modest, outdoor day time-only events can be considered at additional cost (all day guests all must leave by 7pm).
