Your concierge is the best place to start for your transportation needs, whether it be an airport transfer, excursion transportation, a rental car, or local taxis. The public bus is the easiest way to get around. It’s cheap, comes around every 30 minutes and drives between Quepos and Manuel Antonio on the main road, but then again taxis aren’t too difficult to find either. For visitors without a car, official red taxis have a bright yellow sign on the side and are always equipped with a meter (‘La Maria’), but that doesn’t mean they’ll always use it. Make sure you negotiate taxi fare or ask for ‘La Maria’ before you get in to ensure you get the best deal. The opportunity to see a variety of wildlife up close and personal will exceed anything that you encounter in the national park, and all in the privacy and tranquility of your own private nature reserve . Daily wildlife encounters include a variety of monkeys (howlers, titis, and capuchins), sloths, toucans, macaws and many others. And whales (often mother-calf pairs) can be seen right from the balconies during many months of the year as the coastal waters are prime for breeding and feeding.
