The space Charming Saltbox — Walking distance to the heart of Greenport Location, location, location. Our historic Saltbox is perfectly situated between the Village of Greenport, 67 Steps Beach, and Kontokosta Winery. Located at the intersection of Main Street and North Road, you can walk to all three in minutes. This is a home people choose for convenience and access, to be where the action is, not tucked away in silence. Important to know: this prime, walkable location means it is not a quiet retreat. You will hear nearby road activity, cars, and fellow visitors enjoying Greenport. Construction Notice Local road construction is currently underway and may increase daytime noise and traffic Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM. Work has been on and off since early spring, and local authorities have not provided a clear end date. Please factor this into your booking decision. Pet Policy We love animals and welcome approved pets with advance notice. Please share your pet’s breed, size, and temperament prior to booking. A pet fee applies. The Saltbox Standard: Smart Home & Safety Systems At The Saltbox, we’ve intentionally designed a seamless, elevated guest experience supported by integrated smart-home technology. Our home uses a secure, WiFi-connected system that supports essential safety features, including smoke detectors, carbon monoxide monitors, and system alerts. These systems are active at all times and are part of how we maintain the home's safety, quality, and readiness for every guest. What this means during your stay: The modem/router must remain plugged in and connected at all times All safety devices (smoke detectors, CO detectors, alarms) must remain intact and connected These systems continue to function normally for guest safety and do not require any interaction Guests are welcome to adjust their comfort within the home—this includes unplugging speakers or noise machines if desired. However, core system infrastructure and safety devices are not to be disconnected. Any disruption to these systems triggers internal alerts and requires a full system reset, which compromises the home's integrity and turnover. As such, a service fee ($100) will be applied if these systems are tampered with or disconnected during a stay. This is part of how we maintain a consistent, high-standard experience for every guest who enters The Saltbox. We appreciate your respect for the home and the systems that support it. All pets must be housebroken and up to date on vaccinations. Guests are fully responsible for supervision, cleanup, and preventing damage to the home and décor. Guest Details Please provide accurate guest counts, including any overnight visitors, so we can properly prepare the home and ensure correct pricing. We welcome families of all kinds, but the home is not equipped for young children or the elderly (no cribs, high chairs, or baby gates). There are steep steps and uneven terrain throughout the property. Parking & Entry Guests may park in the driveway and enter through the back door, or access the front entrance by walking around the house. Being on Main Street, you may hear cars and foot traffic. The backyard, however, backs up to a nature preserve and is private and unshared. Bedrooms & Layout Primary Bedroom (Upstairs): Queen bed, en-suite bath with large shower and clawfoot tub, smart TV, full dresser, walk-in closet, ductless A/C (remote-controlled). Second Bedroom (Main Floor): Queen bed, dresser, smart TV, seasonal window A/C (May–Sept). The bathroom is across the house on the main floor and shared. Third Bedroom (By Request | Additional Fee): Queen Murphy bed with shared en-suite shower. Functions as a sitting room when not in use. Once opened, the bed must remain open for the duration of the stay. Set up and breakdown handled by hosts only. Main Floor Open-plan kitchen, living room, and small dining area with seating for four. The first floor has a ductless A/C unit. There is no central A/C, but are quiet smart window units are provided seasonally (May–Sept). Hot Tub Available only Memorial Day through Labor Day. Maximum capacity: 4 guests. Guests who choose this home do so for its unbeatable walkability, energy, and convenience. Guest access You will have access to the entire home ( 2 bedroom/ 1 sitting room 3rd bed upon request only), kitchen, living room, bathrooms, walk in closet, patio/yard.) *No access to the basement, one and a half storage/owners closets and one part of the garage/shed. Other things to note PLEASE NOTE: Local road construction may increase daytime noise and traffic Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM. Please provide accurate guest information at booking, including pets and any overnight visitors, so pricing and accommodations accurately reflect your stay. Smoking, vaping, and e-cigarettes are not permitted inside the home. Please dispose of all butts in the provided receptacle only, do not discard them on the property, as we protect the wildlife and nature preserve behind us. Gas lanterns at the front of the house are not for guest use during the rental season. We are located on the main road into the North Fork at the intersection of Greenport Village’s Main Street. Summer months are lively and may be noisier than usual. Our backyard is private and offers quiet moments, especially in the mornings and evenings. Nontoxic bug spray is provided. The hot tub is available Memorial Day–Labor Day with a maximum capacity of 3–4 guests.
