The space Built in 1773, The Old Bell Tavern has welcomed travelers for over two centuries. Once the town’s lively gathering place and a resting stop along the old stage route, the home now stands beautifully renewed—a seamless blend of historic charm and modern comfort. Every beam and board tells a story, lovingly preserved through a 15-month restoration that brought the Tavern back to life. Inside, warmth radiates from wide-plank floors, soft textures, and timeless details. The Chef’s kitchen is the heart of the home—ideal for cooking, celebrating, and sharing conversation. A floor-to-ceiling wine fridge, truly one of a kind in Maine, ensures there’s always a perfect bottle within reach. Gather in the spacious living room with two plush blue sofas, or enjoy a quiet moment in the cozy sitting room overlooking the rolling countryside. The black-and-white drawing room, once a place for spirited debate, now doubles as a charming guest retreat with a pull-out sofa and room for two more guests. Upstairs, the primary suite offers quiet luxury—sunlight pouring over reclaimed oak barn boards and a spacious ensuite bath designed for restoration and calm. Two additional bedrooms, each uniquely styled, provide peaceful havens after the day’s adventures. A guest bath featuring a hand-crafted Moroccan sink adds a worldly touch that nods to travels near and far. Whether you’re hosting a family weekend, celebrating with friends, or seeking stillness in the Maine countryside, The Old Bell Tavern invites you to slow down, reconnect, and create new memories in a home with centuries of its own. Guest access Guests will have access to the entire home minus a locked master bedroom closet and basement that is for owner and property manager access. There is no access to the barn at this time. Outdoor chairs are also provided to enjoy the lovely view from the panaromic deck and side patio. Other things to note No fires on the premises. All children over age 2 should be listed on the reservation and will count towards over all guest count. For both guest and host safety, there are exterior cameras located at the check-in door and on the back patio. We love pets but please do let us know ahead of time and note in your reservation - there is a non refundable pet fee of $125. Thank you!
