Climb the stairs to the first floor and after a busy day outdoors you can stretch out in front of the TV in the lounge, or get out the board games for some friendly after-dinner competition once the table has been cleared. There’s a choice of eateries and takeaways close by, but the kitchen here has everything you’ll need to make light work of any self-catering stay. Completing that homely feel, the bathroom has both a bath and a separate shower cubicle so there really is something to please everyone. When it’s time to sleep, three bedrooms are spread across two floors. At its foot, a small beach looks onto St Catherine’s Island and is the starting point for boat trips to Caldey Island; at low tide, this beach joins up with the dune-backed South Beach, a favourite for families thanks to its gently sloping sands. Stroll around the town’s bustling centre then stretch everyone’s legs with a 4-mile walk on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path to Saundersfoot – you can catch the bus back!
