Description

Built in 1902 and restored in 1988, we have tried to keep true to the authenticity of a working Vermont farmhouse. Thus the name of the farm Antiquity Acres. Here you will find, a quiet place to rest, away from noise but minutes to Stowe on a beautiful dead end road with picturesque views. A private working horse farm sitting on 90 acres of open pastoral land with mountain views, complete with 2 spring fed swimming ponds, and walking trails. The space The house is quite unique, over 100 years old, completely restored with tin ceilings, architectural details, cozy and comfortable. It's very quiet, a perfect place for artists, and writers to get inspired, or just to unplug from technology. The wrap around porch is amazing for morning coffee as is the patio which faces the pond and the mountains, a perfect place to have a glass of wine and watch the sun go down. There are different wings to the house and the bedrooms are apart on each wing. There is a Queen size bed in the upstairs room facing the pond, a twin bed in the tower, and a double bed downstairs. There are several common space areas to choose from, either relaxing on the overstuffed sofa overlooking the pond and mountains or being warmed by the fire with a good book. The grounds and lawn are private and extensive, with a variety of lawn games to play. Swimming or kayaking in the spring fed swimming pond which is has a sandy beach. Floating on a air mattress is a refreshing way to spend a hot afternoon. The beauty of being surrounded by horses and the idyllic pastoral countryside make for a very relaxing atmosphere especially if your lounging in a hammock. For stargazers there is a fire pit in the backyard with Adirondack chairs and blankets at the ready. In the morning, I provide a continental breakfast, usually fresh baked goods, yogurt, homemade granola, juice, coffee or tea. This is a working horse farm, I have 4 of my own plus 4 boarders, so occasionally you may meet one of the owners working their horses. Guest access Guests can use most of the house, besides my studio on the basement floor and my wing of the house which is separate. Guests can use the fireplace room, and the living room and if you'd like to use the kitchen for cooking,(please let me know in advance) outdoor shower, porch, ponds, all the grounds, fire pit, and patio. If there is something that you need, I'll try to accommodate it. I only rent to one party at a time so you will pretty much have the place to yourselves. There is no smoking anywhere on the grounds. Other things to note After booking, make sure to copy and paste the address.DON'T Click the map or the "directions" button in the reservation. (It will take you to a cornfield) In the winter, during a storm as in any area, allwheel drive is recommended. I can always retrieve you or get you to your destination , should you need help. I have dogs who live with me in the house, a small dog named Barley who is blind and deaf., Hans a large friendly Shepard mix, Winslow, a small Aussie who if escapes from the house will start herding the horses. Guests should not let the dogs outside as they tend to get into mischief and keep bedroom doors shut. Most importantly, I have a mini horses who is 44 years old, he CANNOT eat hay, carrots or apples as it is a choking hazard to him, he just gets a porridge for food, so guests must not feed him as he will choke. Ansel, my ragdoll cat must not be let upstairs, he lives in my private studio, the dogs and him are not to be trusted together. I also have extra mountain bikes, snowshoes and kayaks you could use to enjoy the outside with. The spring fed pond is very clean , is 18' deep with a sandy beach, great for swimming in. I usually have floats to use for spending a hot afternoon floating In the pond. If we're lucky in the winter, I sometimes have a fire down there and shovel it off for skating depending on the conditions and how much snow we received. In winter take caution driving on Vermonts back roads, they are ditched deeply on the sides for drainage, so stay away from the edges when there's alot of snow! Registration Details MRT-10126712
