Description
Orchard Cottage is perfect for a peaceful break. Beautifully converted, the high pitched roof and exposed timbers and stonework give this delightful cottage a feeling of space. Its quirky layout is ‘upside down’ with two adorable bedrooms, ensuite shower room and cloakroom downstairs, and a handcrafted spiral staircase leading upstairs to an open-plan kitchen, dining area for 4 and spacious sitting room with stunning views over the adjoining orchard, spectacular countryside and steam railway. The space The cottage is set in peaceful, open countryside, beside the North Yorkshire Steam Railway line, which is in operation during the day from March to October and in the school holidays. There are marvellous views of the railway and the surrounding moorland. The back door opens onto the private, fenced orchard garden, with a wrought iron bridge over the beck into the sheep fields. There are several footpaths and a bridleway close to the cottage and the famous, picturesque village of Goathland is only 1 mile away along the flat bridleway. Guest access All Other things to note The cottage entrance is down several steps and there are also three steps up from the front door to the hall. There is a spiral staircase up from the downstairs rooms to the sitting room and kitchen on the first floor, and two steps up from the landing to each of these rooms. Although there is a separate loo and basin downstairs, the shower room, with loo, bidet and basin, is accessed through the double bedroom (also downstairs). There is no bath. Guests may walk in the adjoining fields where there is an unfenced stream and partially fenced pond. Access is only available through five barred gates which should be kept closed. An initial basket of firewood is available on arrival and further supplies of wood can be purchased on site.
