Description

Welcome to my home located in a suburban residential neighborhood approximately 1.5 miles from Wesleyan University. Guest room with queen bed is ideal for one or two guests needing a simple place to stay without the expense of a fancy hotel. Parking for one car available in my driveway. I am self-employed and work at home, so I will be nearby if you need anything. The space My home is a 30-year old two-story colonial, so there is a flight of stairs to get up to the bedroom. Guest room has queen bed (four pillows, fitted sheet, flat sheet, duvet), small desk, small desk chair, dresser, nightstand, bench/table for your suitcase, mini-fridge, rocking chair, TV (basic cable), wall mirror, tabletop mirror, ceiling fan, electric tea pot, French press and a few snacks. Clean guest towels are provided. Shared bathroom with shower has a wall-mounted dispenser for shampoo, conditioner and body wash. A hair dryer is in the guest room if needed. Guest room has an air conditioner during the summer months and a space heater in the winter months if you want extra warmth. Home is not wheelchair accessible. My home is simple, nothing fancy. Sometimes my work spills into other rooms of the house, and my kitchen may not be "guest-presentable," but I promise that the guest room and bathrooms are the cleanest rooms in the house. Guest access Guest room is your private space during your stay. Shared areas include living room, upstairs full bathroom and downstairs half-bath. I'd prefer no cooking by guests in the kitchen, except to reheat food in the microwave. Yard is off limits. Please do not wander to the backyard or side yards. Other things to note This is a SMOKE-FREE property. There is NO SMOKING of cigarettes, cigars, pipes or marijuana and no vaping inside the guest room, in my house, on the porch, in the driveway or in my yard. No smoking out in the street either - my neighbors do not smoke, and one neighbor has lung issues. There is no need for you to strip the bed, vacuum, wash used cups, bring used cups to the kitchen sink or take out the trash. That type of basic cleaning is my job after you leave, and I do not add extra cleaning fees to the listing for this. But please be mindful of bigger messes you leave behind. I do not have a cleaning staff, I do the cleaning myself, so excessive cleaning that I need to do beyond the typical dusting, vacuuming and washing of linens might result in a request for an additional fee to be paid. Some examples would be scuff marks on walls that I need to scrub, stains and spilled substances in carpet that I need to steam clean, extra laundering or steam cleaning due to the smell of cigarette smoke (even if you did not smoke on my property) and cleaning of bodily fluids and vomit that require rubber gloves. Missing items (like towels, decor) will also result in a request for compensation before I go to the Airbnb Resolution Center to file a claim. Also, please let me know if you have any severe peanut allergies. I keep a candy dish in the guest room, and sometimes it has candies with nuts in them, like peanut M&Ms and Snickers. I can remove these candies before your arrival if necessary. One of the first things guests ask when they arrive is whether they should take their shoes off. You may keep your shoes on, we keep our shoes on in the house. The only time we remove our shoes is during snowy or rainy weather. Please note that the room is suitable for one or two guests. It is rare that a third person stays, because the room gets crowded, but I can accommodate a third person by setting up a cot in the guest room, and that will be an additional $25 per night. No one is to sleep on the sofas in the living room, since it is a shared space. Please do not book if you expect to use the space like a cheap short-stay motel or like a college dorm to hang out with friends. No unauthorized visitors and absolutely NO sharing of the pin code with guests not listed in the booking. No firearms.
