Silver Silo at Cwmhir Court, near Hay on Wye

Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape. Our unique property is formed from two grain silos with an interconnecting hallway with stunning views over the Black Mountains. The Silo is a cosy and comfortable space for a couple or small family, a stones throw away from the historic book town of Hay on Wye, on the Welsh Border. We have easy access to local market towns and outdoor experiences, whether you want to walk, cycle, canoe or horse ride we have it all on our doorstep. The space When inside the space you really understand and appreciate the agricultural structure of the silos. Cleverly converted to have curved white walls in the main living spaces but feature walls of corrugated steel, these welcome you into the entrance hall. Natural materials like oak, slate and quarry tiles form the downstairs flooring and staircases, while the bedrooms have comfortable carpeting, as do the upper hallways. The smaller, taller silo on the left, houses the kitchen, on the ground floor, 2nd double on the first floor and the single bedroom on the top floor. The shorter wider silo, on the right, houses the living room, on the ground floor and the master bedroom, with a balcony overlooking the hills and ensuite shower room on the first floor. The inter-connecting space between the two, allows for hallways, shower room, downstairs WC and utility room. The upstairs, first floor, landing also has a back door onto the outside upper terrace, which can also be accessed via an external staircase from the lower garden. Although we are a tiny space, the living area is comfortable and has a large sofa, armchair and bean bag with enough space to seat the whole family. The kitchen is well equipped and has seating for 4/5 at the dining table. The bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable, modern and cosy. The property overlooks the Black Mountains and the majority of the windows and the master bedroom balcony face the view. Externally we have two separate seating areas and a BBQ, the garden is securely fenced and private, with well stocked perennial flower beds, overlooking sheep grazing on the next door field. Guest access When coming to stay at the Silver Silo you have access to the whole space and private garden, there is also free parking for two cars outside the property. There is a secure dog paddock on site, if you are bringing your furry friend. The Silver Silo is part of a wider complex of 9 buildings, some are privately owned and some are further holiday lets. You are welcome to walk around the site and sit near the pond in the communal areas but ask that you are respectful of the neighbours and their properties and gardens and take care when near the open water, particularly if you have smaller members of the family with you. Other things to note Please be aware that there are multiple steps and staircases within and outside of the property. The garden is attached to a field with livestock permanently grazing, although the fencing is secure, please consider this when booking with a dog, particularly if they are reactive.
