Description
Comfortable home, in scenic Riverside Gardens, Douglas, Townsville. Artistic decor. Can walk to Hospital, JCU, Night Owl, cafes, river walk, Bot. Gardens. Shopping, swimming pools, A1 Highway nearby. 15-20 min drive: beach, city, airport, Nat Parks. Large luxurious bed, Air-con, fan, barfridge, microwave, wifi. Access to kitchen, bathroom, 2 toilets, laundry, patio. 2 small friendly dogs. Light breakfast available. I can recommend places to visit/eat. Not suitable 4 children/teens, pets, sorry The space This is an air-conditioned room with internet. I am gay- friendly and especially welcome Asian or older guests. Anyone who respects me and my home is welcome. I cannot take children or other people's pets as I have 2 dogs who absolutely love adults but are not suited to children or other dogs. Parking is on the street but it is a very quiet culdersac. There is an inner patio for meals and relaxation. The gardens are attractive, and there is a small park opposite. The house is well lived in and clean. Choose it for comfort and well-being, rather than being a pristine bland motel. My house had a lot of character and I paint as a pastime. I would ask you to respect my home. I live a fairly quiet, peaceful existence, with some enjoyable conversations. [Note: I don't allow extra guests, parties, heavy drinking, smoking, very loud noise, rudeness and such things.] PLEASE NOTE🙏 One of my two little dogs, Miko, is a little rescue dog and I am currently house training her. She has the occasional little "accident" on the floor which I clean up as soon as possible. Most people are fine with this and really love my two little dogs, but please only come to my home if you are prepared to be tolerant of these two adorable little dogs. And I do thank you for your kindness towards them.💛🙏 Guest access The Guest bedroom is next to the back door and side gate, near the parking, for easy, quiet, convenient entry and exit. It is a quiet, pretty neighbourhood. There is also public transport near by. My bedroom and personal small lounge-room is at the opposite end of the house, so there is good privacy. I do ask people to respect my personal space and belongings, as this is my home. The guest bed has a Sealy Posturpedic mattress with Cloud-top, a mattress-topper, and high quality bed linen - usually 1000 thread-count sheeting. There is a bar fridge/freezer and microwave in the bedroom, with access to wifi, kitchen, bathroom, and 2 toilets. I don't mind people using the stove or using my washing machine as long as they clean up and are respectful of my facilities. I do ask that lights/air con be turned off when not in use and the external doors locked. There is an inner patio for meals and relaxation, pretty gardens, with lots of birds, butterflies, flowers. The house does have a number of artworks and sculptures that most people enjoy very much. However if this is not your cup of tea then it is better not to select a home high in artistic ambience such as this, than to complain about it in review afterwards. This is my livelihood, so I ask people only to select my home if the description and photos appeal to their tastes. I do have two small friendly dogs. They love visitors. One dog, Meiko, is a little rescue dog and still had her training wheels on, so to speak. But if she has a little mishap then I clean it up thoroughly. Again, if this is unacceptable to you, then please don't select my home. If you are okay with it, then Puppy, Meiko and I welcome you to our home. * I regret having to also add that I ask people to not take my own food/laundry supplies. For those who believe in doing this, I ask them not to visit here. I have had many wonderful guests, but also some very sad experiences and I can only afford to go on hosting if I can trust my guests. Please only book here if this is the case. ** As to wheelchair accessibly, I do have a small number of steps and no ramp, and inside is not set-up for a wheel-chair, sorry. During your stay I have lived here for 20 years and can offer many suggestions of good places to go to. I'm happy to chat over coffee. I love having any kind of guest as long as they are respectful of me and my home. I especially love hosting gay people and friends from Asia. I can recommend the best cafes and specialty icecreams - I love mango sorbet and espresso; home-cooking takeaways, restaurants esp overlooking the sea and island. I also am a keen bushwalker and can recommend some very pretty places, from quite easy walks to the more challenging. There's also a number of interesting historical sites that have a lot of atmosphere. I am also happy to talk about possible guiding or maybe drop off/pick-up re airport or ferry. Telephone numbers can be exchanged for easy arrangements. Other things to note For those wishing to visit those in the Townsville General Hospital or students at James Cook University, we are within walking distance or a 5 minute drive. We are opposite a park and in a very quiet neighbourhood. Note: LATE ARRIVAL FEE (eg nights) Although I don't mind people arriving fairly late (by arrangement), there is a small fee $20 for late arrivals at night. I do ask for your understanding with this, as it can make for quite a late bedtime for myself as a Host. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
