After dinner, pour yourself a glass of something cool and crisp and enjoy the evening air, or head inside to cuddle up in front of the TV. At the end of the day there’s a beautiful dual-aspect bedroom in which to retire. In the morning, draw back the curtains and admire the country views from the comfort of your bed. Head into Axminster (4 miles) and take a stroll along the Art Trail. Afterwards, pick up some local goodies in the farmers’ market or treat yourself to a late lunch in Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage Restaurant. Alternatively, make a beeline for Lyme Regis (9.5 miles), where you can spend the day fossil-hunting, sailing or windsurfing.
