A high street of traditional stone buildings is the backdrop for this centuries-old cottage, while inside an eclectic range of antiques and soft furnishings complement its original features. The space A heavy wooden door leads straight into the lounge, a wood burner to one side promising warm paws whatever the weather. Walk through to take a seat for supper at the solid wooden table; the kitchen at the rear of the cottage is in a more contemporary style and has all the cook’s essentials. The access to the rear of the cottage offers space to stow muddy boots and dog blankets, while cottage-style stairs lead from the lounge to a landing and a double bedroom with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams. Enjoy a pre-sleep soak in the free-standing claw-foot bath that’s in the bathroom close by; for the ultimate in convenience, there’s a separate shower here too. Elegant gardens to the rear of the cottage are reached via a small, gravelled area. Complete with a table and chairs, this is a perfect spot for drinks and fresh air. Peaceful Longborough is just 3 miles north of Stow-on-the-Wold and is home to a thriving community store, a friendly inn and an opera house which hosts classical performances in the summertime. The same distance to the north, Moreton-in-Marsh is on the Fosse Way, a great location for walks with your canine companion. Close by (or 4 miles from your doorstep), dogs are welcome – and water stations are provided – at Batsford Arboretum; the 56 acres here feature some of the world’s most beautiful and rare trees, shrubs and bamboo.
