Rental unit in Coupeville

Welcome to Once Upon a Tide, our guest suite on Penn Cove! Delight in the splendor of Mt Baker and Penn Cove from your perch in this private unit. Vaulted ceilings and lots of windows make the space bright and cheery. The historic town of Coupeville, with its charming restaurants and shops is a short 3 block walk, and access to the rocky beach is just down the street. Leave your worries behind and treat yourselves to some fresh island air. We hope to see you soon! The space The suite is equipped with a modern kitchenette that includes a sink, mini fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee machine, toaster, and hot water kettle. We have outfitted the eating area with dishes, flatware, glasses and other items suitable for preparing a simple breakfast or lunch (it is not equipped for ‘cooking’ meals). Perfect for one or two adults (one comfy queen-sized bed). The roomy space is 'open' with no door between the bedroom and living area. We are located on a quiet walking street with very little traffic. The walk along Penn Cove into the historic town of Coupeville takes all of 3 or 4 minutes. Our home and (the attached) guest suite were constructed in 2020 in the Modern Farmhouse architectural style. Please enjoy our beautiful landscaping as you come and go. We hope you enjoy the peace and quiet as much as we do! Guest access The guest suite is a completely private 2nd story space with a private entrance (you'll need to climb 17 steps to access the door). You may see your hosts as you come and go (particularly in the summer/warmer months) as we're out in the yard a lot when the weather is nice and because access to the guest suite is close to our back door and kitchen windows. We know some people are very private and don't want to interact with anyone at the place they're staying so we want to be sure you know that you may run into other humans! Due to the layout of the property, we aren't able to offer use of our outdoor space to guests (for hanging out, barbecuing, etc.). BUT there are benches and parks very close by for relaxing outdoors on the shore of Penn Cove. Other things to note This unit has one bed that will fit two people. Note that the sofa is not suitable for sleeping on. If you have pet allergies, we’re sorry we won’t be able to accommodate you as our dog visits the suite every once in a while. Coupeville is located quite far north, so in the summer the sun rises really early (5:00am!) and the unit gets bright early in the morning. You might consider bringing eyeshades. In the summer, this south facing unit can get warm during the day (~80°F to 85°F). At night, the window fans bring in nice cool air that brings down the temperature. There can be jet noise Monday through Friday (sometimes late into the night) as Navy pilots practice their maneuvers. This unit is not suitable for children under 10 years old. Regarding guest parking - the layout of our driveway requires you to back out approx 90' (there is no place to turn around before leaving). If you're not comfortable backing out, you can park on the street. If you have an RV or a large truck you'll need to park on the street.
