Description
2 BR bright, new suite, nestled in a 100-year-old character home. At the edge of the Old Orchard neighbourhood near downtown Courtenay, this property previously belonged to famed Bigfoot researcher, John Bindernagel. Whether you are leading your own Sasquatch search, enjoying the area’s abundant recreation, or seeking a spacious home-base for work/travel, you will find this suite well equipped with covered storage, bike wash station, propane fire-pit, HS WiFi, and full-sized washer/dryer. The space Welcome to our home!—a surprisingly bright basement suite nestled in a newly renovated heritage house, steeped in history of the old orchard neighborhood. This two-bedroom retreat radiates warmth and brightness, basking in ample natural light that illuminates its spacious interiors. Our guests enjoy the suite’s calm, quiet and coziness all while being centrally located. This is a modern home in a heritage setting. You will find stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher, a full sized washer/dryer, high quality furniture and plenty of storage space. From soaps to mattresses, we use premium Canadian products, focusing on comfort for an instant “at-home” feeling. Stroll through the neighbourhood under the cover of heirloom trees and catch glimpses of nearby mountain peaks. Make this your home-base for a typical West Coast day, heading inland for biking, hiking or skiing - or out to the ocean at one of Comox Valley’s beautiful beaches. The property is a 10 minute walk from all the essentials in downtown Courtenay and a 5 minute walk to the Puntledge River Park. Cumberland trails are a 10 minute drive away and Mt. Washington is only 30-minutes away. Despite being conveniently located near downtown, our proximity to nature means that you will likely encounter neighbourhood critters during your stay. Don’t be surprised if you hear eagles in the morning or see deer and rabbits passing through the yard. We live upstairs and have sensitive allergies, so please no smoking or vaping on site. If you are travelling with pets, we encourage you to explore other local listings that are more appropriate for fur-babies. Managed and cleaned by EmBark Journey Rentals Guest access You have full access of the suite, backyard, fire pit, outdoor secured, storage, mountain bike wash station and the driveway attached to the laneway. Guests with electric vehicles are welcome to use a charging station at the front of the house. Normally, guest parking is in the rear, but EVs can be parked in front to charge. You will see the charger on the right side of the house under a small wooden cover, and you can use the gate on the left side to walk around to the guest suite. Please let us know if you will be using the charger so we can make sure you have a place to park. The charger is a 40A Grizzl-E; Tesla drivers make sure you have your j-plug adapter. Other things to note About Us! Michael and Theresa live in the home above the suite. Both do sustainability work for a BC non-profit organization and their work takes them all over the province. They are avid mountain bikers and enjoy supporting local businesses and artists. On a typical Saturday, you’ll spot them biking in Cumberland, dipping in the ocean at Point Holmes, and relaxing for drinks on a Courtenay patio. Always happy to make recommendations and hear tales of your travels. This is a brand new suite so if you have any suggestions, please do let us know! We'd like to extend an offer as well, for returning guests, 10% off your next visit!!! Registration Details Municipal registration number: 00006529 Provincial registration number: H357166537
