It sleeps six in three bedrooms, and has period features, an Aga kitchen, a snug with a wood burner and an enclosed courtyard garden with a fire pit. The space Gilbert House is a good place to come back to after a day at Goodwood. Whether you're here for the racing, the motoring or the music, you can settle into the kitchen with the Aga, gather around the fire pit or curl up in the snug once the day is done. The house is light and bright, with exposed beams, original fireplaces and sloping ceilings alongside modern comforts. Hand-selected artworks are dotted throughout, and the kitchen has a gallery wall of quirky historic menus. It's peaceful, with the city on the doorstep, so you can be out and about in minutes and back to a quiet retreat afterwards. If cooking is how you relax, you'll enjoy the kitchen. It has an Aga, a wine cooler, a Nespresso machine, an American-style fridge-freezer and a large walk-in pantry with a sink. There's window seating and a generous dining table, which makes it a natural place for good company and long conversations. There are two spaces to unwind in. The reception room has comfy sofas and well-stocked bookshelves. The snug is a cosy nook with a television, piano, desk and a wood burner for winter stays. The three bathrooms have walk-in showers and under-floor heating, and the master en-suite also has a freestanding bath. A Lutron lighting system covers the ground floor, the master bedroom and the garden. Outside, the enclosed courtyard garden has a lawn and well-stocked borders. Gather around the fire pit as the evening winds down, or head up to the raised dining area for early evening drinks.
