The space The Bras d’Or Lakehouse is located in remarkably beautiful countryside, right on the shore of the Bras d’Or Lake, on beautiful Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. Our home nestles peacefully in 4 acres of birch and spruce forest, with fantastic views of the lake that sits only 75m from the front door. Come and experience the private lake front at your leisure. We can comfortably accommodate up to six adult guests in our lovingly-kept cabin, giving plenty of room for families and small groups to settle down and make themselves at home. We also have two fold-out beds and space for a crib for slightly larger parties that include slightly smaller people. You can simply sit on the terrace and take in nature, letting the majestic views of the lake wash over you in perfect tranquility. From the terrace you can also enjoy the view and presence of the art piece ESONIO, created by the German artist Aurelia Wasser. Or, you can take advantage of the stunning countryside, with fishing, hiking, canoeing, walking and other outdoor pursuits right on your doorstep. Bring some binoculars or a camera, as simply watching the local wildlife will easily fill your day as well. You could travel a few short miles north, and pick up the spectactular Cabot Trail, considered to be one of the world's most scenic destinations: stunning ocean vistas, old-growth forests, prehistoric glacier-scarred rock. Or strike out and further explore the mysterious Cape Breton Highlands. Go in search of festivals, ceilidhs, and the undoubted gastronomic delights of the local waters. We want you to feel at home, so you have access to the entire house. Only one cabinet, which holds our personal belongings, is locked; otherwise, anything unlocked and accessible may be used. The house sleeps six in three bedrooms (one queensize bed, one kingsize bed and two singles), it has two bathrooms, WiFi, a television, a fireplace and a fully-equipped kitchen for your use. Of course, a washing machine and dryer are also provided. As our guest, you may freely use the two on-site adult bicycles and our canoe. We also provide fishing gear for your use; all we ask in return is that you replace any used or lost materials. Fishing gear and associated supplies as well as insider tips can be found locally, for example at Canadian Tire in Port Hawksbury. Conclude your day with an evening around the bonfire – recounting your stories and making memories that will last a lifetime. And, when the time has come to leave, don’t leave with sadness – take those beautiful memories with you, and come back to visit our home soon!
