This is a comfortable guest suite with a private entrance to a bedroom and bathroom in host's home. Located at the end of a gravel driveway in a friendly neighborhood on the west side of Pocasset Lake, it is situated on a picturesque point with great sunrise and sunset views. Guests may use canoes, kayaks or paddle boards, or bring their own. Wayne village is a one-mile walk, bike ride or paddle away. There are 8 miles of mountain bike and hiking trails directly accessible from the property. Guests will find a fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, tea kettle, supply of tea and coffee, hair dryer, iron and ironing board in the space, all with a beautiful lake view. Smoking is not allowed. The Adirondack chairs and chiminea in front of your room are specifically for your use and you are more than welcome to roam about my property. Feel free to relax on the dock, or in my gardens with your morning coffee or evening beverages. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property. I will likely be upstairs every night and guests should feel free to text if they have questions. During the day, I will be gardening or engaged in other projects, and my guests are encouraged to seek me out for assistance at any time . After initially welcoming guests my goal will be to give them as much privacy as possible. The village features antique shops, pottery shops, general store with baked goods and takeout, an art gallery, Saturday morning Farmer's Market, local strawberry picking, and homemade ice cream at Tubby's on the mill pond. There are nearby land trust properties open for hiking, including Mt. Pisgah, where panoramic views of the area are possible from a preserved fire tower. Guests can canoe or kayak to the village and pull their water crafts up behind the general store. Pocasset Lake connects by a picturesque stream to Pickerel pond, the inlet of which is navigable all the way to the North Wayne dam. Fish and wildlife are abundant along this water course. There are 8 miles of woodland hiking and biking trails within a 5 minute walk from my home. All of the previously mentioned places have beautiful fall foliage from mid September through mid October. The White Mountains are about an hour west of here where there are many gorgeous fall hikes and road trips to be enjoyed. This is a rural area with no public transportation. The guest area is located in the daylight basement level of my lakeside home. It is a cool space even on the warmest summer days. Windows on the lakeside offer a view of the water which is only steps away. The room has electric heat for those cooler Maine nights and guests are asked to be sure it is turned off when they are not in the room. While the guest room is equipped with a small fridge and microwave, it is not set up for cooking meals on a daily basis, however there is a grill available that guests are welcome to use. There are a variety of dining options in a 20 mile radius of Wayne. During busiest weekends and holidays, there will be noticeable boating activity and the sounds of children playing during the day. It's very quiet at night except for the loons. Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the property.
