There is a private trail from the property into the National Forest with large aspen groves, a beautiful creek, and expansive overlooks from the saddle that is perfect for hiking or snowshoeing. The home is a newly renovated original 70's A-Frame inspired by Scandinavian design and the Danish concept of “hygge.” HYGGE: ['hue-gah'] (verb/Danish) To feel warmth, coziness, comfort, snug: a sense of wellbeing, belonging, contentment, togetherness, intimacy, happiness; enjoying simple pleasures, such as a warm cup of coffee by the fire, a walk in the woods, or a candlelit meal. Newly upgraded internet makes the Hygge Chalet the perfect getaway for remote work while being surrounded by nature. The Hygge Chalet is ideally located only 1 hour from central Denver, 40 minutes to Red Rocks, 1.5 hours to Boulder, and 1 hour to multiple ski resorts. There is an abundance of outdoor activities nearby that make perfect day trips all year round. Recommendations will be provided after booking for all the things to do, see, eat, and drink in the area! “We had an amazing stay! Secluded spot, with a private hiking trail. The chalet A-Frame was wonderfully set up with all amenities and extra touches. Much bigger than we expected. The sauna was amazing, and we were able to charge up our electric car too! Beautiful wraparound porch to suit every desire.” - Tammy PRIVATE SAUNA: The Finnish barrel steam sauna truly sets this place apart from all the rest. It's easy to use and allows you to sauna bathe in the traditional Finnish way by pouring water onto heated rocks to create steam. Essential oils, robes, and slippers provided. Most nights in the Rockies are clear enough to see the Milky Way and star-gazing is exceptional here, especially when taking a cool-down break from the sauna. LIVING ESSENTIALS: “So many thoughtful extras! Cozy blankets, quality linens and towels, warm lighting and everything you need to feel comfy and at home.” - Greer The home is 1400 square feet with an open floor plan. You enter from the sauna side of the home into the entry way with sauna amenities waiting, like slippers and sauna scents. You then walk through the open kitchen. The full kitchen has high-quality cookware and all dining essentials. Basics, such as cooking oil, salt and pepper, spices, condiments, etc., are provided. Enjoy complimentary fair trade/organic ‘comfort’ drinks, such as locally-roasted pour over coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. The home is filled with books, candles, board games, blankets, an iPad for movies, music, and information, a Bluetooth speaker loud enough to fill the home, and a gas fireplace for ambiance. All high-quality linens, towels, robes, and slippers are freshly-washed right before your stay. As is customary for almost all homes at high elevation, there is no A/C due to the cool temps year-round in the evenings and mornings. “The Hygge Chalet is a true gem. Hidden away in beautiful scenery and great for relaxing while enjoying the surroundings.” - Jamie BEDS & BATH: 2 Queen beds, 1 full bathroom There’s a bedroom downstairs with a Queen bed, a dresser, a clothes rack, and a full-length mirror. The loft bedroom with an A-frame ceiling also has a Queen bed and a clothes rack. The bathroom downstairs has a walk-in shower plus many toiletries and extras in case you forgot to bring something. OUTDOOR LIVING: “This is a really nice and secluded spot with a beautiful hiking trail out the back door, and a lot of thoughtful touches around the house.” - Rafiq The 3.5 acres of land is mostly wooded and backs up to National Forest. The outdoor space has a brand new large wraparound deck with stunning views, café lights, dining area, hammocks, Adirondack chairs, and a high-end gas grill with a smoker. Behind the home is a custom street art-inspired mural as a nod to Denver with an Aspen and Mandala scene created by a local Denver artist. “What can I say that hasn’t already been said? This place is BEYOND words. I’m not exaggerating when I say you will feel right at home and not want to leave…The sauna is the cherry on top for an R&R stay too. All in all, you won’t regret booking this stay.” - Kassandra THE AREA: While the home is very private and secluded on 3.5 acres, it is still in a small, rural neighborhood with neighbors down the road. Our neighbors are the best, please wave or say hi if you see them! Depending on the weather and traffic (especially busy holiday weekends) traffic sounds will vary from I-285. While you cannot see the road from our property, road noise can travel up the mountain at times and can be heard if you are outside or if the windows are open. If you're expecting absolute silence, this may not be the place for you. There are lots of outdoor activities in the area, from ziplining to river rafting and skiing but by far what our guests have loved the most is simply hiking the private trail from the property. Here are a few picks on top of hiking for where to head while here: • The Shaggy Sheep restaurant, Grant - 2min • Guanella Pass, Grant - 4min • Treehouse Adventure Park, Bailey - 13min • Aspen Peak Cellars Winery & Bistro, Bailey - 15min • Off the Rails coffee, Bailey - 15min • Craft Mountain Brewery, Bailey - 15 min • Sasquatch Outpost, Bailey - 15min • Jefferson Lake - 30 min • Staunton State Park - 30 mins • Red Rocks Amphitheater and Rock N Roll Museum - 45 min • Breckenridge skiing, shops, restaurants and breweries - 1h • Georgetown shops, restaurants and breweries - 1h • Georgetown Loop Railroad - Historic Steam Engine Train - 1h • Mount Princeton Hot Springs - 1h 15 min Whether you're looking for a cozy mountain retreat to read in the hammock and relax in front of the fireplace or to get outside and explore nature, the Hygge Chalet is the perfect place to experience hygge to recharge by yourself or reconnect with loved ones. Guest access AWD WINTER REQUIREMENT: All Wheel Drive (AWD) or 4 Wheel Drive vehicle is REQUIRED during November through April due to unpredictable weather and steep mountain roads. However, it can snow as early as Oct and into May. The road to the home is regularly plowed. FIRE BAN: Due to the dry climate and Park County regulations, the fire pit is off-limits to guests all year round. Open fires of any kind (with the exception of the grill) are prohibited at all times. Other things to note RULES: Guests must sign basic renter’s agreement prior to checking in, agreeing to the rules. Rules include no smoking, no fires, no pets, no hunting, no leaving trash outside, no littering, no parties and traveling in an All Wheel Drive vehicle during Nov-April. EV CHARGER: Our complimentary Level 2 EV charger is made by Colorado's own Emporia and considered the "Best Level 2 EV Charger of 2024!" INTERNET/TV: Our High-speed satellite WiFi is fast enough for your remote work or streaming needs. By design, there is not a TV in the house since we encourage unplugging for the best hygge experience. Enjoy the vibes of the Hygge Chalet Spotify playlist and great sound on the Marshall speaker, which is controlled by the provided iPad. ELEVATION: The cabin is at 9,000 feet. While it is rare, some people experience symptoms from the altitude (headache, sleepiness, dizziness, nausea, etc.). If you are coming from a lower elevation, we highly recommend giving yourself at least a day to acclimate in the Denver/Boulder area. Staying super hydrated and avoiding alcohol will also help prevent these symptoms. The natural bedrock spring water direct from the sink is some of the best water in the US, so please stay well hydrated during your time and always have water with you on day trips. Reusable water bottles and hydration powder packets are provided.
